Browns Official 53 Man Roster, Future Draft Picks

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Adarius Taylor ahead of Genard Avery is a surprise to me. Have I just not been paying attention?
IIRC, some Twitter peeps said Avery had a very bad preseason.

Taylor had the job from the beginning. Avery got on the field more as a designated pass rush specialist, which isn't exactly Taylor's skillset. I don't think the depth chart accurately shows how flexible in personnel on the field the Browns are going to be on both offense and defense. They won't prominently use two tight ends, and they won't prominently use a 4-3.

Avery being listed as a LB is interesting.

I still think of him as an edge rusher who might occasionally play as a drop LB. In passing downs, my guess is usuallyhe'll come in as an edge rusher. Occasionally, they might ask him to drop in coverage, or come in and play as an OLB in a run down. So in a sense, he is behind Taylor at OLB. But I think that's only half of his responsibilities.

Why is he listed as an OLB instead of a DE? I have a tin foil hat theory: If we ever get to the point where we need to tag him, his tag will be less expensive as an OLB as opposed to a DE.

You have a point there. The 2018 Browns definitely dropped him into coverage a lot when he stepped into replace Kirksey, but now the linebacker depth probably won't require him to do it often.

I think you missed where he is listed as both a DE and LB. Obviously he plays both, but was the only player with 2 positions as far as I can tell including OL

Scottish Hammer.......punter and holder

I know they are not going to predominantly use two TEs, but I would love to see some 12 formation with this team. Njoku and Harris out there with Chubb, OBJ, and Jarvis could be really useful a few times a game. Obviously it requires Njoku becoming a willing blocker, but if that happens, teams will be confused how to handle the formation.

Harris is an equally good blocker in passing and rushing situations and Jarvis and OBJ are also quietly great run blockers. If Njoku becomes a willing blocker, combined with all of the other talent, then Baker and Chubb can take it from there.

@Huber.

How many punters do you have the Browns turning over this year?

One stipulation I'd add is that we may have some restructuring candidates this offseason, if they want to stay with the team and were already overpaid during that first surge of signings under Dorsey.

I know restructuring is a baffling and new situation for Browns fans, but it happens on good teams.

Yep. Among others, I can easily see a Jarvis restructuring coming next off-season and using some of the saved $ to keep Higgins around.

Higgins seems to really like it here and there's no denying the chemistry him & Baker have.

That would be amazing.

That really doesn't count. The punter is almost always the holder. He isn't really backing up 2 spots.

We have bigger needs than keeping Higgins to be honest. We would have to use Jarvis savings to keep Njoku, Myles,, maybe Schobert, eventually Baker, Ward and Chubb.

We will need to wait for the new CBA, but our own draft picks are about to get expensive because we have been picking well.
