Browns sign Jeff Janis

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Louis and Janis are the gunners on ST and 5th/6th WRs

Coleman and Higgins are praying the Browns don’t draft a WR otherwise one of them is gone.

Payton. PS or gone before camp.

Janis has been wildly productive in multiple preseasons.

Just hasn’t really gotten a lot of opportunities as a WR in the regular season.

I looked it up, he is 6'3, 220lbs and ran a 4.42 40.

I wonder if his routes are bad or hands are bad or something, because on paper he should be a good WR, but even if just special teams, improvement is improvement.

Hands were a question coming out of school. He was a body catcher.

He now has a chance to prove he can be an NFL wide receiver since he is competing with unprovens for the 4th WR spot and possible starting if injuries/Gordon decides to do a bit of smoking. He needs to show he has actually work on his catching skills.

My question is if he had bad hands, but showed to be good on special teams and a good athlete why wasn’t he tried at Safety?

Payton has been practice squad for a while now if I’m not mistaken.

Gordon, Landry, Coleman and Janis are locked in unless they do something very unexpected like acquire Beckham.

With Gordon and Coleman lacking reliability, I’d imagine they go with 6 WR. So that means Louis and Higgins battling with a possible draft pick for the last two spots.

I also think it will end up with Higgins and Louis fighting for their spot. If it's a competition between the two of them, I think Higgins wins out fairly easily. Louis just has stone hands and I'm not sure there is anything that can be done to correct it.

Maybe the coaching staff will ask Louis to move over to safety like many teams projected him pre-draft.

That lost WR roster spot will come down to the players value in special teams. Louis might have an edge because of his speed and size as a gunner.

What would be the chances they draft a receiver in the later rounds of the draft?

I actually am a fan of Higgins.. I would love for him to make this team and learn from this new group of receivers.

Acquiring Odell Beckham is pretty slim.. They have the pieces, but overpaying for him isn't wise. I would love to get him for 2 2nds and Coleman, but that's as far as I go.

So the final receiver spot will likely come down to Louis and Higgins, as mentioned above.. I got Higgins making it.

It's a good probability they draft a WR in this draft since there really isn't a 1 WR, but a bunch of 2 and 3 WRs and depth is always needed. Higgins has one more shot of making this roster, but he is likely on the outside looking in especially since how bad this core was last year and he didn't even make a mark outside of one game.

He was utterly horrendous as a gunner, and just got replaced (hopefully)
