Defense looks promising

What are coverage sacks? Never heard of them....:chuckle:

Couple errant throws. Not deterred, cause he makes actual good throws sometimes.

Also factoring in drops and that fumble. Tough.

Kizer is probably like 6-18 right now :chuckle:

There was blatant drops though

I liked Hue's comments. Not talking about "progress". Upset about turnovers and wants more points. Sounds.like he's going to chew out the "o" and not coddle Kizer.

And for those who didn't see, Kizer did look better than the numbers. Crappy field position, some drops, and ineffective running game.

OL needs more time and Bitonio.

Defense also looked good - Peppers looks like he knows how to play the position.

Are you a assweiler fan? Because if he was 6-18, 1 int, 4 drops, 3 points, im pretty sure posters would be sharpening their pitchforks.

I'm team Kizer of course, Duke Johnson also changed this game's momentum big time. Kizer looked great that drive.

Game is on here.

What is the objective review of Kizer's performance?

For the third year in a row I went to the Browns Bucs third pre season game. I had very good seats and here is what I think.

Clear improvement from last year to this year with the speed and athletes on this defense compared to 12 months ago.
Guys like ogbah look bigger stronger and better, plus the defense has a legit front seven that will help keep games close.

Kizer looks like a solid NFL prospect with clear flaws he will neeed to work on. He def has a very impressive arm in person. Worth developing this year for sure. Play him from the start.

Besides Coleman no wr made any impression for me. We better scan the waiver wire because these guys can't get separation and that will hurt Kizer from developing quicker.
As far as tight end Telfer is a waste of time. Not sure why he is starting. He looks like a third string player at best. Offensive line looks solid on pass protection, but Bitonio is def needed for the run game.

We are still one to two drafts from being a good NFL team. It will just depend on how well we draft this spring. But you have to feel much better about the roster than 12 months ago at this time. Last year we looked like an expansion team in the third pre season game. This year we looked like a team that could win 5 to 6 games.

I woukd say WR, Corner and a OT will be clear needs next spring based on what I saw last night. Also I think Days is good enough to play as a third down back. Again still lacking enough offensive talent to be a good football team this year. But if Kizer can develop than there is a lot to be excited about.

I definitely see the team picking up a corner high in the draft next year, it's the only glaring defensive need aside from likely a safety. That said, I feel like we're a year away from fielding the most athletic and physically imposing defense in the league. The speed and strength in the front 7 looks amazing, and there's no clear week link. Even Schobert, probably the least athletic starter, is flying to the ball and making plays in space. All those 80+ percentile SPARQ stars are beginning to pay off.
