Browns Training Camp 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think we're close to becoming one of those franchises that vets go to for pennies on the dollar to compete for a Super Bowl or to reclaim their careers.

They’re at that point right now.

All options in every door now has a possibility, whether contract issue, off the field, whatever….the browns will be in talks.

Hinges on KS imo

I think we fundamentally agree on everything except on if a trade request is an escalation. I think it is, you do not. Totally cool.

My thinking is going from “I want more money and I’m sitting until I get it” to “trade me off the team” is an escalation. That’s all.
That's fair, and I think it, clearly, is an escalation. I just don't think that escalation is surprising or unwarranted. I have absolutely no information, but it wouldn't shock me at all if Berry and Hunt's camp have talked about this the whole way, and basically said "Yeah, we haven't found any trade offers--feel free to put out your own request."

First, I see you're going by average dollars per year, rather than what they're making this year.

Second, I see you're already accounting Hunt's roster bonus (200K per game) into his salary. That 3.4 million could go up in smoke if Hunt is inactive.

Even if Hunt plays all of 2022, he's getting paid roughly what guys like Chase Edmonds and Rashaad Penny just got in free agency. He's playing below market.

It's not unreasonable, at all, for a player who is getting paid below market value, and has given this organization 3 years of bargain contracts, to want financial security.
I hope they give him another two year deal, I doubt this happens...

I'm not sure at all what you mean by this.

Anthony Walker is a terrific leader, makes the calls for the defense, and is an average starting middle linebacker in the league. That's what he was in Indy, that's what we expected when we signed him away from them, and that's what he did when healthy last year.

What else are you expecting? If you want higher ceiling linebacker play, well, JOK is obviously number one with a bullet--but then you have to hope for Jordan Phillips to show out. Walker is what he is--and I don't think he's a problem.

Jacob Phillips? lol

I am pretty confident that the Johnson, Ford, Felton trio could replace Hunt.
Two of those guys were on the roster last year and I definitely thought Hunt's presence was badly missed.

D'Ernest was great but feel like he and Hunt bring different things to the table. Ford seems promising but the guy's a 5th round rookie that we haven't seen play a down yet. And Felton...I guess you maybe see something in him that I do not.

I guess agree or disagree, this trio is probably going to need to step up if Hunt gets shipped out.
