Browns Training Camp 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I agree. Blake Hance is more valuable than JOK.

We'll see if this changes, but it feels like they're willing to accept the good and bad of Brissett until Watson returns.

If he is gone the whole year, I could see them paying Jimmy G when he is cut, but at most 10 million.

Then they’re stupid and okay with wasting a year of our window.

Great to know.

I think it's entirely depending on this Watson decision. If Watson ends up getting 10 or 12 games on a settlement, there's a 0% chance of the Browns going for Jimmy.

The season is less than a month away at this point. At the absolute earliest it seems like the Browns would even acquire Jimmy would be another 7-10 days from today. Then he has to come to Cleveland, take a physical, get and learn 53 new teammates and a new playbook. Every day that goes by it seems less likely he'd be able to slide right into the lineup in week 1.

There's precedence for this too. The 49ers acquired Garoppolo at the deadline on October 31, 2017 and he wasn't up to speed enough to make his first start until December 3, which was a shade under 5 weeks later.

Let's say it takes 5 weeks again, week 1 is already out of the picture and week 2 probably is too. Week 3 might not even work either being a short week, but let's say it does.

Are the Browns going to use up rollover cap space for Jimmy G to start 8 games? 10 games? I just can't see that happening.

Now if Watson is whacked for the whole season, then all bets are off.

CBBI did a good job of laying out the timeline.

Like I posted last week, if this charade of a disciplinary process ends with Watson getting a full season this late in the game? It's total bullshit and the incompetence of the process cost the Browns greatly.

This whole thing could have happened over the course of a week in July. Instead we've had over a month of sitting around doing nothing. That is valuable time with which we could have made a decision on Jimmy and gotten him up to speed. Very annoying.

The Browns knew the minute they acquired Watson there was a realistic chance the 2022 season would be a wasted season. They were comfortable taking that risk because they knew even if he couldn't play in 2022 he would be able to start for them for the 5-6 years after.

I don’t understand why the Browns wouldn’t go after Jimmy G?

The trade for Watson was clearly for a better chance at a Super Bowl, that’s fine by me. Why in hell would you ride with Brissett and not take a chance on Jimmy G for a season?

Oh yea, let’s watch 6 yards per pass attempt from Brissett, maybe it gives Schwartz a chance to catch a ball.
