Then they’re stupid and okay with wasting a year of our window.
Great to know.
I think it's entirely depending on this Watson decision. If Watson ends up getting 10 or 12 games on a settlement, there's a 0% chance of the Browns going for Jimmy.
The season is less than a month away at this point. At the absolute earliest it seems like the Browns would even acquire Jimmy would be another 7-10 days from today. Then he has to come to Cleveland, take a physical, get and learn 53 new teammates and a new playbook. Every day that goes by it seems less likely he'd be able to slide right into the lineup in week 1.
There's precedence for this too. The 49ers acquired Garoppolo at the deadline on October 31, 2017 and he wasn't up to speed enough to make his first start until December 3, which was a shade under 5 weeks later.
Let's say it takes 5 weeks again, week 1 is already out of the picture and week 2 probably is too. Week 3 might not even work either being a short week, but let's say it does.
Are the Browns going to use up rollover cap space for Jimmy G to start 8 games? 10 games? I just can't see that happening.
Now if Watson is whacked for the whole season, then all bets are off.
