Buying a new Car

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I bought the 07. It felt better driving. That C is so small inside.

The AC seems weak.

I bought a 2018 Camry SE a couple months ago. It rides smooth and is extremely roomy upfront.

Quality car that won’t give you problems as long as you stay on track of oil changes and routine maintenance.

Anyone drive a GMC Terrain? I’m starting to kick the tires on researching new cars and seems to be the one I keep coming back to. Wondering how it is and if there’s any common issues you might’ve come across.

The new one? I’ve rented an Equinox (Chevy version). It was a pretty nice ride. Beware that the 2.0T engine requires premium gas.

Maybe you can have the dealer check out the AC, it might need to be check for leaks and recharged. O-rings will start to break down after 10+ years on an AC system.

It ended up being fine.

Looking at PHEVs for my next car. Anyone have any thoughts on or experience with either Prius Prime or Honda Clarity?

2 choices:

get a better than average car near or above the allowance. This equation is

Money earned from doing an awesome job and taking out fucking important people > money saved and invested.

That option would be betting on yourself, and you seem smart and motivated, and kind of like a dude who is going to be moving up in the corporate ladder.

I got a retarded deal on my lease of a tricked out infinity q50. Tech package, souped up engine. $400/mo with nothing down. Drive this car at least.

2nd choice:

Buy a car that gets you the $7500 tax credit. I am unsure which companies have quota left.

Don’t buy an A4. Expensive replacement parts down the line. Sexy tho. Would lease one. Would also lease that entry Jag, but wouldn’t want to own that down the line...

Remember you can write off lease payments against income. I am not necessarily a lease guy at heart, but I wouldn’t count it out.

Leasing is the way to go if you're looking at luxury brands. Even non-luxury brands, if you're able to get the right deal, leasing new every 2-3 years can be cheaper than buying new every ten years.

The Q50 Red Sport (assuming that's what you're talking about) is a good deal and leases well.

Check out the forum Leasehackr.

Perhaps an option would be a loaner BMW 330e with a couple thousand miles on it (to lease). Not sure on 2018's, but at the end of the 2017 model year, there were some killer deals on there.

I'm pretty sure all of the electric cars still get the credit (there may be a range requirement). Not just the tax savings, the money saved on gas, the money saved on maintenance (since there isn't an engine)

I bought a car last year, I nearly held out for the Tesla Model 3 and regret it. I bought something else because the backlog was so long, but it turns out I would either already have or would get shortly. Had I known that last fall year I would have waited.

And Tesla's are just flat out fun to drive. I test drove the Model S. I never drove a car that was as much fun. But with the range I wanted, it was out of my price range. And since there is no engine to take up space, the Model 3 has ridiculous cargo capacity for a mid sized car.

Telsa has sold over 200k cars now, so the credit for a Tesla is now $3750. GM is also close to selling 200k plug ins now, so will probably be out by the end of the year.

I had one. It was a decent vehicle, I liked it. I did have an issue after I took it in for an oil change at the dealership. Some nasty chemical-like smell lingered from the vents. They did everything they could to try to diagnose/fix it and could not. They also would not take the blame for it, so I was stuck with it for the 6 remaining months of my lease. 2 kids later, we needed something bigger and got a Traverse (which I like a lot better than the Terrain because of the extra cargo space).

no, Tesla still gets the credit until the end of the year. There is a period after 200k is hit that the credit still applies.
