Recently I have received a few pm's about making my traditional post-game stat of the night post a thread of its own. This way it makes it easier to find and it doesn't get lost in all of the double-digit pages. Before making this thread I searched to see if a mod/admin was on to ask for permission, but I couldn't find one. I was wondering if one could sticky this thread, and I will simply update it with a new stat-portion after every game. However, if this isn't in the best interest of the board, please do not hesitate to delete it and I will continue to post in the game threads. I'll start the thread with tonight's stats of the night, thanks in advance!

Time for Camakazee's neat-o stats of the night,
(Sponsored by: I want my Boobie-back Boobie-back).

Game 20 @ Charlotte.

It's a Block Party!

- The Cavaliers starting frontcourt recorded a season high 10 blocks.

- Wallace recorded 3, LeBron had 2, and Z had a season high 5 blocks.

Mr. Gibson.

- Daniel Gibson recorded his 2nd 20+ point game of the season. The other game came against... well, the Bobcats.

- In two games against Charlotte this year, Gibson is averaging 23.5 ppg, 3.5 apg, and 3 rpg.

We're Going Streaking!

- With tonight's win, the Cavaliers are now on an 8 game winning streak, matching the previous streak earlier this season. Here's a closer look at how the two streaks match up:

1st winning streak: 8 wins, 105.5 ppg, and opp 93.1 ppg. Average margin of victory: 12.4 ppg. 5 double digit victories.

2nd winning streak: 8 wins, 108 ppg, and opp 86.3 ppg. Average margin of victory: 21.7 ppg. 8 double digit victories.

View from the other side:

- The Cavaliers held Jason Richardson to single digit points (9) for only the second time this season.

- Also, the Cavaliers held Gerald Wallace to his season low for points (1).

- This game marks the lowest points in a game (10) that the tandem has combined for so far this year.

Time to drive it home:

For those of you who have noticed I have a large fetish for the per 36 minutes statistic, since limited minutes can often do a player's hard work injustice. As we have blown out teams the last 8 games, this has become particularly true in the case of Ben Wallace. Here's a look at his per 36 minutes statistics tonight compared with them on the season.

- Per 36 minutes tonight: 3.6 points, 14.4 rebounds, 5.4 blocks, and 1.8 steals.

- Per 36 minutes on the season: 4.4 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.9 blocks, and 1.4 steals.

A reason a thread can be made is for just a few reasons:

1. It defines a new topic of conversation.
2. It involves an important issue that can be discussed separately.
3. It allows for organizing a message board even further.

In my completely honest opinion, this perfectly fits all three of these reasons. There's no reason to believe that it shouldn't have its own thread. You've earned the right to make this because they're new fascinating ideas on what the Cavaliers have achieved. They're a success on the board and it's great to finally put them here.

Keep up the stats, sir!

P.S. Do you honestly think that this shouldn't be its own thread? Some threads here aren't very relevant because they're all repeated elements.

Definately deserves its own thread. I stickied it for you. I certainly look forward to these posts after each game. Keep them going!

One of the main reasons for taking a look at the game thread after the game.

Keep it coming Camakazee

Game 21 Vs. Raptors.

A Truly Historic Night.

For those of you who missed the game, a couple of big things took place tonight:

- With 3 steals in the game tonight, LeBron James now holds the record for most steals in the franchise with 737.

- Likewise, after recording 6 rebounds tonight, Zydrunas Ilgauskas is now the all-time Cavs rebounder with 5,230 rebounds.

- Also, with their 9th straight 12+ point win tonight, the Cavaliers set a league record for most wins in that department (9 consecutive wins by 12 or more points).

1st things Second.

Now that that's out of the way, let's take a closer look at how the Cavaliers have been performing in the first quarters of the last 9 wins, or what I like to call "the streak" :chuckles:

- Including tonight, during the streak the Cavs are outscoring their opponents 255-169 in the first quarter.

- This evens out to an average of 28.3 ppg, to their opponent's 18.8 ppg in the first quarter, nearly a double-digit differential.

The First Three Off the Pine.

Over the last four games, the play of Anderson Varejao, Daniel Gibson, and Wally Szczerbiak has been truly inspiring.

- Tonight, despite Daniel Gibson only playing six minutes, the trio recorded the following:
31 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.

- Over the past four games, the 3 have averaged the following stats:
31.5 ppg, 10.8 rpg, 6 apg, and 3 spg.

Keep in mind these are the statistics of only the 6-8 men (AV, Boobie, Wally), not the entire bench.

Fit for a King.

- With tonight's 31 point peformance, LeBron recorded his first 30+ point game since 4 games ago against Milwaukee.

- Also worth noting, tonight is only the third time this season that LeBron has recorded more points than minutes played, with the two 41 point performances against Chicago comprising the other two occurances.

Mo Betta Blues.

- Tonight Mo Williams recorded a season (and, of course Cavs) high 9 assists. He combined these with the 13 points and 4 rebounds he put up in only 30 minutes of gameplay.

View from the other side:

- Tonight marks only the second time in which Raptors superstar Chris Bosh was held to single digits this season. The other occurance came against Boston in which he only put up 9 points, same as tonight.

- More important, this is the first game this season that the Toronto Raptors had only one of their starting five players record double digit points. All other games, they've had at least two players that started the game crack the 10 point barrier. I feel this is a true testament to the Cavs' team defense this year.

Thanks, Camakazee -- these posts are just great.

Would you mind putting the date (and perhaps something like "Raptors at Cavs") somewhere visible in your posts? It will be fun to page through these stats throughout the season.

Where do you find this stuff? I'm eating this shit up!

Note: Don't take the previous statement out of context.

you guys need to see the game thread on the Toronto boards on realgm... page 50+ funniest thread i have ever seen

Great idea. Edited the orignal post to contain team and date.

:chuckles: This information is the bi-product of several things: being a sports nut, being on the newspaper sports staff in h.s./formerly an initial journalism major, and procrastinating current schoolwork. That really fuels the research.

Addition: It's also I don't know how many times that all 12 guys scored.

As always, great stuff. I look forward to this stuff after every game.

Throw a link - looked but could not find it. Saw a 13 page thread....

Lebron has not played one minute of the 4th quarter in 6 of the last 8 games....amazing.

Game 22 @ Philadelphia

End of a Double-Digit Era

- Unfortunately, tonight's game marks the end of our 12+ (and double digit) points winning streak, but the winning streak is still alive and well at 10 :D

Batman and Robin

- Mo Williams popped off tonight, for a season high 27 points. The 27 points were also accompanied by a season high 11 made field goals. This comes one night after a season high 9 assists.

- Additionally, Mo and LeBron combined for 57 points, their second highest this year (58 against Utah).

- The two combined for the follow stat line: 57 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists, and 2 blocked shots on 21 of 38 shooting (55.3%), including 4-9 from three point (44.4%), and 10-11 from the line (90.1%).

Finding Help in Once Troubled Quarters

- Tonight astonishingly marks the fourth straight third quarter win.

- Also, in the last two games, the Cavs have won the third quarter by double digits.

Outshooting in a Shootout

- Tonight marks the 10th straight win for the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, it also marks the 10th straight game in which the Cavaliers have shot a better fg% than their opponents.

- Additionally, in the last 10 games, the Cavaliers have not allowed their opponent to shoot 50% or greater as a team. Here's a closer look at the fg%'s over the last ten games.

Cavaliers' average field goal percentage: 49.6% (10-0).

Opponent's average field goal percentage: 40.3% (0-10).

This means that over the 10 game winning streak the Cavs are outshooting their opponents by 9.3%.

Also, this is somewhat typical of the damage the Cavs have been doing so far this year:

- In 21 games: Cavs fg%: 48.3%, opponents fg%: 41.7%.

- In 82 games last season: Cavs fg% 43.9%, opponents fg%: 45.5%

Therefore, so far this season the Cavs are +6.6% fg% (+9.3% in 10 game winning streak) as compared to -1.6% last season.

View from the other side:

- The Cavaliers forced Elton Brand to commit a season-high 7 turnovers in tonight's game. Tonight also marks the first time in Brand's career that he has committed seven or more turnovers, yet was held to single digit points.

- 76ers Guard Louis Williams recorded a season high 22 points tonight. This marks only the third time in his career that he has scored 22 or more points. Likewise, Andre Iguodala recorded a season high 27 points tonight. Congrats guys

P.S. Sorry I skimped on the stats a little tonight. I'm in the library studying for my last final tomorrow and took a break just to watch the game and then come back.

Time for Camakazee's neat-o stats of the night,

- Tonight marks four straight third quarter wins, as well as six straight first quarter wins.

- Also, in the last two games, the Cavs have won both the first and the third quarters by double digits.

Just a point of correction, we lost the first quarter 25-28
