Caris LeVert: Drunken Kung Fu

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Is LeVert back in 2023-24?

  • Cavs can't afford the $$$ to keep him and nothing is going to change that

  • After bricking shot after shot in the playoffs, Koby washes his hand and lets LeVert walk

  • Only if he signs for something close to the MLE

  • If Caris plays well in the playoffs, the Cavs will offer big $$$ to keep him

  • KobyAltman! No one else on the team fills his role, so stop sitting on your hands!

Right now he is performing at this level 1 in every 10ish games. If he can bump that up to 3-4 every 10...then ya we are on to something

I really don't think that's a fair way to assess his season so far. Like it or not, he was way above average in advanced metrics before Garland came back. His shooting percentage was not great, but he was helping the team win with the best plus/minus on the squad and stacking floor game counting stats to boot.

When Garland came in and took his Robin role as a playmaker, he was lost.

I mentioned this in the game thread: If we get LeVert comfortable in a 6th or 7th man role - which is completely unlike what he was asked to do to start the year - it's time to respect his versatility rather than bag on his time to adjust.

I didn't intend for that to seem like a LeVert diss- I am merely saying that- for whatever reason (injury, adjusting to his role, contract year) He has yet to string together a small sample size of good games consistently. I would prefer 10-14 ppg, 3-4 assists, & good defense consistently versus looking mentally handicapped half the time and then dropping 30-40 every few weeks.

I wonder if his ankle was bothering him prior to missing those recent games. He had a bounce in his step tonight like he was pain free.

I think he plays better with Mitchell without Garland.. I think Mitchell understands what Caris does well.. someone said they are similar players, and thier is truth to that. Mitchell is the Elite version, Caris is the pretty good version, and Sexton is the JAG version. I will certainly get flamed for this, but IMO Garland has struggled to use these types of players on the court. Part of the reason the three towers worked well..

I think JBB is beginning to figure that out, and I think Garland will too, but it is still a work in progress.

Glad he showed me wrong, at least for one night. Here's hoping this is a start of a trend.

I’m glad he played well last night. I don’t and never thought that LeVert sucks. I think he can play, and I think he needs to be in a more tailored situation for him to truly succeed.

I do not believe that situation is here and I still think he should be on the trade block.

He still sucks. Playing like a competent player 1 out of every 10 games isn’t good enough. All this does(same with Okoro) is makes JBB thinks he’s a genius and validates rewarding shitty play when said shitty player has a good game only to follow it up with 10 stinkers and no reduction in minutes for said players

He has been asked to do a lot of different things. I do think 6tg man is good for him and being a playmaker is when he is really good

I look at the coach when young players regress, when players who are supposed to be In Their primes are posting career lows. Almost like not running an offensive system and relying on hero ball makes role players play …. Worse

luka, bullock, hardaway jr, finney-smith...all career-lows from the 3....

if anything...caris lavert is a conisistent 43 from the field spanning over six seasons....year in and year out....a lot of those starter minutes....dont see why there is any reasons to believe that he wont revert back to the mean since hes not coming off a major surgery nor is he even close to approaching the wrong side of 30.

there is a very good chance that this guy will be a very , very valuable 2/3 coming off the bench in the playoffs...one of many pieces that need to be in place for a shot at the ecf....caris in all likelihood will not be the problem come the post season....that will be okoro/cedi/wade/stevens..the cavs have to swap two of those guys plus a second and take back a bad contract to get the starter that takes them from contender to co-favorite in the ecf

trading caris lavert for a second rounder is about as stupid as saying harrison barnes is only worth only a second round pick......

right now the cavs need a player...not a pick...let alone a shit second rounder which does absolutely nothing for them now and in all likelihood in the future.

While I think a lot could be on the coaches, as a professional basketball player, I just feel like you got to adjust and get yourself together.

lavert will be just fine....not a whole lot of difference from the mean between these two players...both having sub-par seasons to this point...you can even make a case that lavert is having the better season per career averages...

you guys need to relax....its early and all that matters is who shows up in the post season... and lavert has done that in spades in different years albeit on a small sample size

drive for show....put for dough
