Carl Nassib

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
How is it a political topic? Being gay or straight has nothing to do with politics.

If you want to argue the thread belongs in Around the NFL, I won't argue with you, though.
Nor does it have to do with Browns or Football in general.
Move it to Off Topic.

But it’s not Browns related and not even football related. It’s a personal choice that has zero affect on the game. It’s a political topic that belongs in a different area of the website.

Or are we again picking and choosing what’s allowed based or certain sides.

It is, in fact, not a choice.

Nor is being gay “political.”

A former Cleveland Brown made a newsworthy decision, it’s relevant to the Browns, to America, and to millions of people as an inspirational story.

How about you, perhaps, leave the thread? I’ll PM you if there is any non-LGBTQ news on Carl Nassib.

Scouts honor.

I don’t think anything has gotten political yet… here is what I am going to do. I’ll move this thread to Around the NFL. If it becomes political, though, we will simply delete the political posts.

Basically:

Talking about the historicism of this moment and it’s effect on the NFL = ✔️

Talking about Democrats and Republicans = ✖️

Fair, even though the discussion has has nothing to do with football for over the last 2.5 pages.

I think you are missing the point. While we are not discussing the X's and O's, it is a football related discussion. When we discussed Myles Garret "Hulking" out of his jacket during the draft, you didnt object nor was that about football unless you want to loosely tie in some offseason workout and why he "Hulked" out.

Similarly, this isnt direct impact to X's and O's, it has an impact on fans that might be proud of his decision, how his teammates might react to him in the locker room, and many other things that could come up.

It is for sure football related and has an impact on football as Nassib is the first openly gay current player in the history of the NFL.

Now if you cant see how this relates to football, that is not any of our problems, that is you trying to disguise homophobia or for some weird reason Nassib being the first gay football player to speak his truth WHILE playing football. He had MILLIONS of reasons to not come out, the non guaranteed money, future contracts, ect...but he bravely ignored that after 15 years of struggle.

having a LGTBQ daughter and Gay uncles who are huge Saints fan, i have been waiting with hope for this day.

I’m deleting political posts. I’m not afraid to ban for personal attacks, though.

When I used to mod the politics forum I would say that “I really don’t give a shit about your politics.” It still stands. I know asshole and stupid liberals and conservatives. I know awesome and smart ones too. Personal attacks will get you banned eventually.

If you’re somewhat offended or put off by all the discussion around this news, it begs the question of why you’d keep checking a thread where the only discussion is likely to center on more of that issue.

Perhaps I’m just not understanding the insistence on participating in a discussion that bothers someone this much.

Let’s just celebrate the dude and his cause.

This isn’t and shouldn’t be a divisive or political issue, at all.

Carl Nassib coming out as the first gay man in the NFL is not a political topic.

It’s not a political topic. It’s germane. It is political if someone points fingers at either political party or makes a point about policymakers implementing something.

I remember Rosie Greer wrote "Needlepoint for Men." That was a big deal back in the day.
This is only the 3rd thing I know about Rosie Greer, the first two being that he was a pro football player and he tackled Sirhan Sirhan after he shot that Kennedy boy. Feel like I need to learn more now.

The goddam Germans got nothin to do with it!
Joe ain't no Kraut!
