Cavaliers Trade Ideas: 2022-23 regular season edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I like Gordon but giving up no FRP for him……
Believe me:
If we get Gordon, and he helps us to the Eastern Conference Finals,
then people will remember the 2021-22 Cavs season a helluva lot longer than
whoever the 22nd pick in the draft will be.

And nobody on our current team is able to take over games when this team is struggling offensively. This team is in dire need of a shooter AND a person who can create off the dribble and finish at the rim. As much as I love Garland….he ain’t it! This team will not serious contend without that type of player.
Okoro has shown some flashes of being the "finish at the rim" kind of player. It is a shooter that we most need and desire.

Eric can't get the Rockets out of last place in their conference, and I don't think hes ever been to a conference Finals despite playing with some pretty stacked teams...why do we think he'd all of a sudden do it?

Gordon wouldn't be asked to be the focal point. That's Allen, Mobley, and DG. But we could surely use another scoring threat in the backcourt.
Scoring just got harder by loosing LM for a month.

We’re most likely getting bounce in the first round with him or without him….If I’m giving up a FRP is definitely not for him.

And why does the youngest team in the League need that right now? How do you suggest they get that? How do you know such young guys *aren't* that?
I don’t care if you are the youngest or the oldest…..EVERY TEAM needs that type of player. Show me a successful team that seriously contends year in and year out THAT DOESN'T HAVE that type of player. I didn’t say go out and get that player this season….I’m saying we NEED that type of player! Our “young” guys AREN’T it because they have shown it! I’m not our young players are very good but they do not have that IT trait in them.

Is this a joke? Garland is 21, creates most of his offense off the dribble, is already one of the best finishers around the rim in the league, and his shooting mechanics are flawless.

If your stance is to not sell future assets to get the ValuTime version of that guy, then my apologies, as we are on the same page. I think the only "piece" the Cavaliers are missing (other than role players like backup C and backup PG) is the big wing that can score off the pass, create for himself and make the pass to teammates as a secondary or tertiary playmaker. A guy like Paul George would be ideal, but he's not available or coming here. While not a superstar, I think we can get that guy in the offseason.

EXACTLY! We are on the same page!

And as far what the other said about Garland….Garland is a baller but he is not a go to guy! I love him and love his game but he’s not THAT guy!

Thibs has given Reddish 5 minutes of play since he was traded to the Knicks 10 days ago. I wonder what the Knicks front office will do if it continues this way for the next 2 weeks. Thibs has always been a coach that has his guys and will just run them to the ground vs going to a larger rotation.

I could see the Knicks giving in to Thibs and trading Reddish for vet that Thibs wants. It could be the type of deal Koby pounces on. Give the Knicks one of the 2022 2nd round picks we have and a lesser 2nd round pick in the future so they can recover some of the cost they spent on Reddish. Maybe Koby also help facilitates a deal for a vet for the Knicks as a 3rd team.

There is no way that the Knicks turn around and dump Reddish for less than they gave for him after only a few weeks. The front office wouldn't have made the move for Reddish in the first place if they felt wishy washy enough about him to just give up after a few games and ship him off for pennies on the dollar. If they did do that the GM deserves to be fired on the spot.

Then don't psychologically cap their development at their respective third and first seasons in the league? Both Garland and Mobley have to become those guys. They are going to get paid like they are. Garland is getting there; he's the #1 option on a 28-19 team at 21 years old. Mobley is next.

We still need to get Garland an off the ball scorer in the starting rotation in my mind. If we can do it without giving up essentially more than Rubio in a sense, don't we have to do it?

The fact that your 6 foot PG is your go to guy speaks volumes…..again we definitely need a big (6’5-6’6) wing/SG that can shoot and create off the dribble to be that guy (ie PG13, Butler, Leonard, Booker etc). I’m not trying to cap Mobley and Garland’s growth but there is a huge hole on this team and that type of player is needed. I’m not saying mortgage the future (maybe we find that player in the draft) but if we can that player via trade using a package of Sexton, players and second rounders (and/or protected high draft picks) then you do it!
