Cavaliers Trade Ideas: 2022-23 regular season edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ingram is pretty much a point guard. While I like his game and always have, he's a super high usage dude who would never come to the Cavs to play off ball and watch Garland and Mobley.
Who would you like us to trade for then since you hate every move, real or fantasy, that has been suggested?

Would you all do this trade?

to CLE: Ingram, Valanciunas, & Graham
to NOP: Allen, Sexton (S&T), & LeVert

I probably do this but NOP says no. Sexton is redundant with CJ and the downgrade from BI to Caris is not worth the equivalent upgrade of JV to Allen.

False. I like the Neto trade quite a bit. IMO he looks like a great fit.

I think Ricky's return is risky and I would've liked to bring in a 5 who's not allergic to jump shots instead of RoLo, but I don't hate either move.

Who should we trade for rhen?

I would not. Graham is unbelievably bad at basketball. And I'm not nearly as high on Ingram as others seem to be. I don't trust his 3 point shot. Yes I know he's had 2 seasons of shooting decently from three but then he regressed and shot 32% this season. And his defense is absolutely terrible. He's a good player I'm not denting that but he has some aspects to his game that make me question his fit here.

Never been crazy about cooking up trade scenarios. Too many variables in play behind the scenes we simply don't know about.
So not only do you largely thing every move we have made was extremely flawed and not like ideas other people propose...but you have no alternatives?

OK, one last time. Promise to pay attention:

Agbaji pick = thumbs up
Diop pick = no opinion
Elder Mobley pick =ugh
Travers pick = thumbs up
Neto deal = thumbs up
Ricky deal = risky
Lopez deal = meh

you have no alternatives?
As I said, I've never enjoyed inventing trades. Kinda fail to see the point, but to each his own. I'd much rather discuss real transactions and rumors.

It is just hard to tell how you feel about all these pickups (with the exception of Neto) based on the posts in the respective threads sometimes.

I think the Cavs without Allen are a lottery team for the foreseeable future so no.

Straight up, I would do it but..

1) I think NOP has no reason to do that.. it looks like they are getting a younger Jonas without range, and a more expensive Graham back.. Does that move the needle?
2) you might get closer to the mark if you included Wade and Okoro rather than Levert.( might even need to add a FFRP) .which further degrades the defense. But Ingram might make up for it..
3) I think it makes us softer in the middle, so I might expect more out of Lopez, for now and look for younger center later.
4) Graham is essentially not as good Sexton, but probably gets us a back up point. I flip him and levert for a bag of chips and second rounders at the dead line..

I think the resulting team is better.. you have a lot of looks , you could run Ingram with either Rubio or Garland , plus any two of Laurie, and Jonas, and Love with Mobley. would make it a tough out.. bring OA at the two and slide Ingram to three. Sub in microminutes from Stevens, Lopez to rest Mobley.. if we actually had an offensively oriented coach, we could put up some numbers.

But, this coach and this team were built on defense, which would now rely heavily on Mobley and Ingram. Laurie defending the perimeter with length.. I don't think OA will be a defensive gawd as few rookies are.. I also worry that Allen is part of the core culture family..

Jarrett Allen got us 16 points on 10 FGA per game last season. He had the second best FG% in the NBA (behind only Gobert). Ingram averaged 22.7 points on a hair under 18 attempts per game. So the Cavs net 6.7 more points per game, but they'd need 8 more attempts to get it, and they'd surrender Allen as a defensive anchor. I'm all the way out on this.

Ingram doesn't replace Allen, Jonas does, and Jonas will score just fine especially with Mobley gravity.. Ingram replaces LeVert and Okoro.. and that is not trivial..

I have no boner to trade Allen, but to answer the question asked, yeah I do that trade.. I can't imagine NO doing that trade, but that was not asked..

1000% yes. It’s basically an Allen for Ingram trade. The other players matter, but those are far and away the two important pieces.

Garland
Ochai
Ingram
Mobley
Valanciunas

Is very good. If Mobley continues to develop his range, you simply can’t defend that unit.

Then,
Rubio
Love
Graham
Lopez
Wade
Osman
Okoro

Off the bench + to be dealt
