Cavs acquire Sam Dekker (Official)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Was on a plane today. He looked good?

The man had a nasty ankle breaker on Tatum :chuckle: and hit a three on offense.

Some of his catches + finishes off rolls look very strange/awkward/rushed. His defense hasn't been bad, but the d has been all switching all the time so it's hard to rate anyone on individual defense thus far (and really if everyone is playing team defense, individual stuff doesn't matter as much). Still he manages to get some decent contests and hasn't been completely lost on rotations, so that's good.

He had a pretty good game against Celtics' rotational players (Kyrie + Hayward were the only 'main' ones that didn't play for them).

He's perfect for the switching scheme. I know some don't like it, but we will have to see if teams keep having trouble from 3 against the Cavs mysteriously.

I'm willing to give this guy a chance.

Really I have never been more excited by a bunch of random young guys. Everyone is showing something right now

I like how after the preseason game when asked about the difference between LA,Houston and Cleveland. Dekkar said he is free to play his game and references being a big man with a guard skillset.

I feel like he will have a very hard time finishing at the rim. He exposes the ball too quick and will get blocked a lot.

But overall, decent player. Real gritty, hard worker. Very white.

Confirmed gym rat. First guy on the practice floor, last guy off.

Its blatantly obvious that he cannot finish, unfortunately. If he improves his shot, he could be valuable. But I dont see anything earth shattering here. I hope he isnt a part of the rotation.

I was worried we wouldn't be able to replace Jeff Green.

Does anyone like this guy? I couldn't see playing him at the expense of anyone else. I would let him go and play the young guys,,even Preston.
I guess this is the conundrum when you don't go rebuild and you try to win games at any cost playing (bad) veterans over youth and inexperience..hope its worth it.

I don't mind him. I don't think he excels at one particular thing, but he also doesn't suck completely at anything. He is just solid and doesn't make a lot of mistakes.

He is not great by any means, though he doesn't stick like a sore thumb like a lot of other players. He just does his job whether it's on D or on O.

nothing more than bench depth, 9th-10th player in the rotation type, if he is playing more than 15 minutes/game, then we are in tank-mode.

He's a smart kid who should get some minutes but he won't set the league on fire.

Dekker will be 24 in two weeks. He is a young player.
