Textbook false equivalency that the national media will no doubt continue to exploit.
The same way they'll milk the "Warriors prove once and for all they're the better team" should a Durant-led Warriors squad stop us in the Finals.

Stepping back for a second, does anybody else beam at the fact that we're on the precipice of a historic rivalry? These two teams meet for the third year in a row, you're going back decades to find anything else like it.

I wouldn't want to see them in the finals purely because I'm hoping this Durant experiment fails.

Am I afraid of them? Naw. But I'm really hoping it blows up in their faces. I'm just hoping Durant scurry's over to the Lakers or something after his contract is up. Leaving Lacub holding his dick.

Pre-Durant signing? I was really hoping we'd see the Thunder or Clippers in the Finals one day.

CP3/Griffin V. LeBron/Kyrie or Westbrook/Durant V. Kyrie/LeBron.

Both would have been incredible IMO.

Because it's a message board and you made a baiting post?

I did? I thought you didn't get the point?

I guess you just attack everything you don't understand?

It's not making anything up to say that's against the board's rules.

Cavs won, end of story. No one cared about last year's narrative of us missing guys, no one is going to care about what happened during the series other than we won after being down 3-1.

Yeah, some even claimed we were better off without Kevin and Kyrie, but we cared, and we noted it. And if we're going to consider the future of these two teams we'll continue to note everything that affects the outcome.

Of course if we were to make a list of players most likely to go down due or be limited due to injury, it would have to include Steph, Bogut, Kyrie, and Kevin right at the top. The Warriors let Bogut go, but Durant had had his share of issues that may or may not reoccur.

It is lining up pretty well for a 3rd Finals rematch because unlike other recent repeat finalists both teams are younger, potentially still improving, and the opposition out West has seemingly weakened and the East's future is in youth.

It is pretty cool, but mostly that we're involved. It's very hard for me to get interested in a basketball game that doesn't involve the Cavs or at least Cavs players.

If I recall correctly I don't think the same teams meeting in the Finals three straight years has ever happened in the NBA. Not even the Celtics and the Lakers have played three straight years. And it's the Cavaliers and the Warriors, not exactly part of the "haves" when it comes to NBA franchises. I don't like the Warriors but I respect their talent, and it's cool that we're going to be forever linked like this.

You are correct.

Would be pretty cool to be a part of that.

I don't think the Warriors make it back to the finals. and depending on what happens next offseason they might not be back for awhile

That's pretty wishful thinking. I have not bought into the Durant Warriors hype and am convinced that we'll beat them (should we make it) next year, but predicting that they won't make it out of the West is just, well...

With OKC out of the running the Warriors' bid for the Finals will probably be easier than ours. Gasol will be a huge liability for San Antonio when the Warriors unleash a barrage of PNRs, and the Clippers are the France of the NBA...they can play themselves in a series and still find a way to lose.

Wishful Thinking? or just a different opinion.

It's awesome for the teams involved but it does suck for the rest of the NBA in my opinion. The stupid Durant move has made a league that already skews on the predictable side even more top heavy. This is the first year I can remember where there is only one Christmas Day game (Cavs v. Warriors) that is even interesting and it's mostly because it's hard to fathom any other teams in the Finals.

As an aside, this is why I disagree with the idea (pedaled by some in the media) that the Durant move was good for the league because "everyone will want to watch the Warriors." I suspect that whatever extra eyeballs that Golden State will draw will be offset by the decrease in interest in the Thunder and in other teams that cannot reasonably compete with the post-Durant Warriors. Not to mention that Golden State already drew plenty of attention from both the media and from casual fans last season; it is not certain that the addition of Durant will lead to a tangible increase in the interest in a Warriors team that was already historically good without him. I mean we aren't even one year removed from Warriors-mania and ESPN having a "nothing but Steph" tab on its website - how much more popular can the Warriors even become?

That being said, you guys should absolutely enjoy this stretch where your team is competing for championships every year against one team. It is a throwback to the heyday of the NBA, which was built off of the great inter-conference rivalry between the loaded Celtics and Lakers squads. And in some ways the greatness of the Warriors elevates the appreciation for the players on the Cavs for being able to compete with and defeat such a great team. It's just that, as a fan of a different team and of the league in general, I wish there were other dangerous teams akin to the 80s Rockets, Blazers, Sixers, or Pistons capable of challenging and even defeating the two heavy favorites (Spurs come closest, but I personally think the Warriors will destroy them).
