I don't think the Warriors make it back to the finals. and depending on what happens next offseason they might not be back for awhile

I will go out on a limb here and partially agree with you. I don't know about not being back for awhile, but I do think the Spurs and yes even the clippers cause some mismatches for the warriors. I would not be surprised if either team knocked them out next year, especially if Durant decides to go iso.

It's awesome for the teams involved but it does suck for the rest of the NBA in my opinion. The stupid Durant move has made a league that already skews on the predictable side even more top heavy. This is the first year I can remember where there is only one Christmas Day game (Cavs v. Warriors) that is even interesting and it's mostly because it's hard to fathom any other teams in the Finals.

As an aside, this is why I disagree with the idea (pedaled by some in the media) that the Durant move was good for the league because "everyone will want to watch the Warriors." I suspect that whatever extra eyeballs that Golden State will draw will be offset by the decrease in interest in the Thunder and in other teams that cannot reasonably compete with the post-Durant Warriors. Not to mention that Golden State already drew plenty of attention from both the media and from casual fans last season; it is not certain that the addition of Durant will lead to a tangible increase in the interest in a Warriors team that was already historically good without him. I mean we aren't even one year removed from Warriors-mania and ESPN having a "nothing but Steph" tab on its website - how much more popular can the Warriors even become?

That being said, you guys should absolutely enjoy this stretch where your team is competing for championships every year against one team. It is a throwback to the heyday of the NBA, which was built off of the great inter-conference rivalry between the loaded Celtics and Lakers squads. And in some ways the greatness of the Warriors elevates the appreciation for the players on the Cavs for being able to compete with and defeat such a great team. It's just that, as a fan of a different team and of the league in general, I wish there were other dangerous teams akin to the 80s Rockets, Blazers, Sixers, or Pistons capable of challenging and even defeating the two heavy favorites (Spurs come closest, but I personally think the Warriors will destroy them).

I totally agree. I am excited about Durant's move, because I see the potential for Cavs-Warriors to be Celtics-Lakers, and that's a cool thing to be a part of as a fan.

On the other hand, I DO wish for a little more parity within the conferences. 3 playoff series where the Cavs are the presumptive favorites does tend to feel like a slog in some ways.

Of course that could change as the season gets rolling, and the hidden hope for every fan is that their team will breakout, make a big trade, or catch some breaks that propel them to the top.

Interestingly, the more former contenders throw in the towel and start breaking up their team, the more opportunities there will be for teams with assets and cap space to bring those players together and contend. There are still some stars left who might push the needle if they insisted on a trade.

otoh, Complacency and acceptance of the status quo and each teams place in the new pecking order would nearly guarantee the expected outcome.

"Cleveland is a city of champions once again!"

It's rare that a night of drinking doesn't conclude with Billy Ocean's "Caribbean Queen", Rick Astley's "Together Forever", and Game 7 highlights. Tonight was no different from all of those other nights.

Not sure where else to put this, but I purchased some single game tickets today. Also, decided to pull the trigger on two tickets for the home opener ring ceremony and banner raising against the Knicks. Was able to get two tickets in section 221 row 15 for $350/pair on Flash Seats. Came to be more like $440 total after fees. It's upper deck, but in the corner, not even behind the basket. I thought that was pretty solid considering most upper deck behind the basket are $200+ each.

My question to you all... I've never sat in this section before, so I'm curious if any of you guys have and can provide feedback on the view. Obviously, I'm mainly going for the ring ceremony and banner raising which is sort of a once in a lifetime moment. Just trying to get an idea beforehand because if I'm in a crappy section or on the opposite side of where I should be sitting I can flip these and find something else. Obviously the jumbotron is always there in the event the banner is facing the opposite direction or whatever, but just thought it was worth the few minutes to ask.

I sat there for a game against the Pacers pre-LeBron and against the Bucks on New Years, 2014-15. The Q does a great job making sure you can see the game from any seat. You'll have a great time watching the game, and everyone is really friendly up there, and tend to be smart fans, in my experience.

One thing, though, is I've noticed it is incredibly warm. Last time I wore a coat because it was the middle of Winter and that was a huge mistake. I was sweating bullets by halftime. So, if you're going to sit up there, make sure you can deal with hot temperatures. My only caveat is I've only sat up there twice, can't guarantee any of what I just said about temperature.

Appreciate the feedback. I don't live in town so I only make it up to a few games a year and they're always the bigger, high priced ones (LeBron's first game back, 2015 Finals Game 4, home opener last year) and so I'm generally always in the upper deck anyway, but behind the basket or in the center. Never in the corners. You're right, it can get hot up there. I'm sure I'm just worrying about nothing... and it's not like we have prior banner raising/ring ceremonies to compare this too. Just, for the money spent, would like to be as sure as possible I'm in a good viewing spot when that banner goes up. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

This site gives you a pretty good 3D-picture of seats from anywhere in the arena.
