Cavs draft workouts

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Alright, alright ...how can we get Culver, Goga and Langford ..

Don't know if this is realistic, but I'd be thrilled with this outcome. Sexton/Culver/Langford/Love/Bitadze would be a really fun starting 5.

Can we use our 26 and JR for two picks in the teens?

Either would be a super fun lineup . All can shoot, finish, play make, drive, long, athletic . Would he super fun

There's a difference between athleticism and functional athleticism.

A lot of guys can jump really high in a controlled setting. Stick a basketball in their hands, force them to take a dribble, stick a defender in their faces and things change.

I like Culver a lot, but I trust his tape as a more realistic look at his athleticism compared to a workout photo.
right, but you have to be explosive to get that high which has nothing to do with functional athleticism.
Nobody thinks he is dynamic and he doesn't have an elite first step etc.

if you mean 5 + a pick later maybe. Miami is shopping their pick to Cavs, Chicago and probably Sacramento in exchange for taking a bad contract and having the 26 to balance the trade might be enough using Smiths contract.
Culver at 5 and Bol or Little at 13 would be impressive. Doubtful to happen but a kid can dream

Is there any objective reason to say he lacks functional athleticism? Any statistical evidence, or in terms of film, any clear cases where he had an opportunity to finish strong and didn't? I'm not crazy high on Culver or anything, I just find the athleticism stuff to be an odd gripe without much basis.

I'm still hoping that the Hawks will fall in love with someone and want to move up to #5. Getting #8, #10, and a pick in the teens from JRs contract would really help the rebuild, even if we have to give up #26 in the process of either trade. I think there are enough high upside guys in the top 20 that getting 3 of them will result in at least one star.

If one of Hunter, Reddish, or Culver is there at #8 that would be the best scenario for the Cavs. There seems to be a lot of depth of SGs and forwards or bigs with upside after the top 8.

If we come away with any combo of one from each of these groups I'd be happy.

Culver/Reddish/Hunter
Porter/Alexander-Walker/Langford
Hachimura/Clarke/Bol/Goga/Washington

Purely based on Tankathon mock:

Would you rather have Culver or Reddish and Hays if Atlanta trade went down?

It’s Culver’s first step or burst that’s the problem. He’ll have a tough time in the half court early until the jumper develops. We’ve got all the time in the world to develop. I’m coming around on Culver the more I read about him though.

I'm all for getting any combination of these players but I prefer to move up to do it

Based on the tankathon mock, I'd sooner take Reddish and Bitadze of the players available at 8 and 10 if that were to occur.

Atlanta Hawks
According to league sources, Atlanta has been angling to move up in the draft by packaging their various picks, and continue to explore possibilities there. Their primary target would seem to be Jarrett Culver, and they would likely have to get ahead of Phoenix to get him. After dealing with the Nets to add Allen Crabbe’s salary and acquire two first-round picks, Atlanta owns a league-high six selections in this draft, and is exploring all its options. If the Hawks do stay put at 8, it seems liksome healthy skepticism, but Reddish fits nicely with Trae Young and the Hawks’ other pieces. Depending on what happens with these Atlanta picks, there’s a chance he could fall out of the Top 10.

This is from the sports illustrated mock draft that came out yesterday.

What about Boston at 14 and 20? They should be looking to move some pieces around and I doubt they really have interest in making these picks.

Maybe I’m wrong, but there seems to be more sellers than buyers at this point. The Cavs, along with Sacramento & Dalls, are one of 3 teams rumored to be interested in acquiring more picks. Sellers include Atlanta, Boston, San Antonio, OKC, & possibly Portland. The cost to get another first this year should be relatively cheap.

Despite the rumors, I’d be surprised if the Cavs traded the 5th pick. I think they’ll sit tight and take either Hunter or Culver. I think there’s a very good chance the 4th pick gets moved and that could be where Atlanta jumps up to. The Hawks have a lot of draft assets and would be a nice third team partner for the Lakers & Pelicans in an AD trade.

If Atlanta gets the 4th pick there’s a good chance they take Culver and then the Cavs would take Hunter.

I could also see Phoenix offer the Bucks future ,#6 and #32 if Garland is on the board at 5 Culver is gone to move up to 5 to get Garland provided Cavs sell they will just pick Garland otherwise. Bulls might also offer a lightly protected 2020 and a 2nd to leapfrog Phoenix etc in that scenario moving Cavs to 7 but then they will have to expect Phoenix will take somebody they might be targeting like Sekou or Hunter.
I don't really see Cavs moving down to 8 unless they are not high on Culver over somebody they could definitely grab at 8 like KPJ or Little . & obviously if Culver is gone Atlanta wouldn't bother.

Wait did you say the Suns would offer the Bucks pick,,6 and 32 to move up one spot?
Thats crazy they would never give up that much to go up one spot.

The Bucks pick will most likely be 25-30 in next year's draft. There could be competition for the #5 pick especially if the Lakers or whoever has #4 takes Hunter. The Hawks, Suns, and Bulls might want to move up to #5 for Culver or Garland.

The best case would be the Suns pay up for #5 for Garland and the Hawks or Bulls pay up to draft Culver at #6. Cavs end up at #7 or #8 and a chest of picks for the future.
