Cavs draft workouts

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I like him a lot too...interesting physical tools, super young, and can do a bit of everything.

I’m an Iowa State fan. He definitely did have some cold games, but he also had some hot games and a lot of good games. He was only 17 when he got on campus and has a freakishly long wingspan. He’s like a more talented version of Deonte Burton who plays for the Thunder, and was also a Cyclone.

Fun year to be an Iowa State fan...I'm really interested to see what Haliburton looks like next year in a larger offensive role.

Wrote this scouting report for THT:

Offense - A full year young for his class beginning the season at just 17 years old, he wasted no time asserting himself offensively, always looking to make something happen when he touched the ball. Bowling-ball frame combined with willingness to pull up for deep 3's makes him difficult to guard, though he's not yet skilled enough to consistently cash in on the openings he creates. Also an above-average passer for his position who probably has some point forward potential.

Defense - Intriguing frame at 6'4" with an enormous 7'1"+ wingspan, and it's not crazy to think he could grow a little considering his age. Solid rebound/steal/block numbers for a wing, though too often he was a loose canon that disrupted his team's defensive scheme. Needs to get in better shape to really max out the defensive versatility his frame promises. Needs a coach who can rein him in a little, improve his fundamentals, and channel his naturally high motor more productively.

Horton tucker is a high iq offensive player for his age player, but lacks NBA athleticism despite excellent length for a 2/3 and needs to really improve his shot % going forward.
I think he can play in the NBA but I wouldn't take him in the 1st. I think he could be one of those players that falls in the draft a lot farther than people expect.

Call me crazy, but I’m not really a fan of undersized, overweight wings...

no, but he has a similar build and drives in a similar way which reminded me of Gordon
I think a closer comp from my perspective is PJ Tucker.

Was pleasantly surprised that he only measured 8.4% bodyfat at the combine. Was expecting 10+. If he can continue to improve on that front, he may improve some athletically too.

PJ doesn't make much sense as a comp...Horton-Tucker's shot selection is much, much more perimeter oriented with 4.5 3-point attempts per game as a freshman. Of course, that may not matter if he doesn't end up being an accurate shooter. But he has upside as a perimeter creator that PJ never had.

Sure, but PJ shot 4.7 attempts from deep last season.

the undersized part is irrelevant since he has elite length for a guard.
But yeah he is overrated as a nba player because he is far from being an efficient shooter , is out of shape and and is not a good athlete. He is a high iq player with smart passing ability as a result, so he might play in the NBA as a rotation player but he needs to get in shape and improve his shooting so imo he will go mid late 2nd under most circumstances ,except the possibility somebody sees something more

He's developed a decent set shot from the corner late in his career, and that's where almost all his attempts come from. Most of Horton-Tucker's 3's are above the break, and many of them are off the dribble. They're just very different players stylistically.
