Cavs trade for 2019 lottery protected 1st, Knight, Chriss

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's true, but I'd almost rather just use the pick. From what I've read - because I do zero of my own "evaluation" for the draft - this draft is more deep than top-heavy. Nobody other than Zion seems a sure thing in this draft, and nobody is trading that pick to us for lower picks in this draft.

So if it's going to be a crapshoot, I'd rather just take another player. Our roster is weak enough that we're going to need more tuan top 3 players to fill it.

I'd perhaps be more inclined to trade it for a future pick that projects to be higher.

I'd agree, I think it matters simply in tier cutoff scenarios......if it is the difference between Morant or Barrett.......or the difference between Reddish or Culver, I'm burning the pick....in both cases for the Duke guy. That is more of what I was alluding to......if you get to a cliff and the pick is the difference between getting the last guy before that dip or the first guy after it, those are the scenarios where you invest the capital.

If you just end up in a tier with multiple players available, then sure, just make the pick.

Don't know him at all, but the problem isn't the tools...it's the minutes. Do we bench Zizic and give his minutes to Chriss?

He's more of a PF than a C.

With all the injuries we have I'd imagine our rotations look something like this.

PG - Sexton
SG -Clarkson
SF - Osman
PF - Chriss/Nance
C - Zizic/Nance

We don't have a whole lot of healthy bodies so I'd imagine he'll get plenty of playing time.

But Love and TT are both very close to returning. What then?

I have a feeling the Cavs are stuck with that asshole until his contract is up. No trade rumors in months for that clown.
Smith is tradeable after the Finals. His greatest value is when a team decides after the Finals that they want more space for free agents.

There's risk in doing that. Though it does clear some space, but you also have to hand over some assets. After tomorrow at 3PM, I believe JR Smith will be the only way a team can clear cap space before the free agency period starts. I don't think there's any other guy that signed a deal from the old CBA with an option like that.

Swapping out Smith for Crabbe would put the Nets in a place where they could give Russell his tender and have two max slots.

It just depends on what the Front Office / Coaching Staff wish to accomplish the rest of the season. We have no reason to win. If Love or TT even roll an ankle I'm gonna bet we'll shut down them down for the season.

I always felt that Nance is more of a backup PF that could play spot SF... His body is just too brittle to play center even with todays NBA... Hoping he plays more to that trend once the frobtcourt is all healthy

So who are the prospects that should be available at this pick (I assume it’ll be around 20-23)? I know there’s been some injuries to guys like Bol Bol and others that may drop them, and during a rebuild those are the types of guys we should be taking with these later picks we’ve been getting

No idea where or if any of these guys will be drafted but most aren't talked about like the Duke 3 and a handful of others. This is just the start of my own list and you will mostly see guards/SFs on here because I am partial to efficient scorers from long range also.

Xavier Johnson, 6-3 guard, Pittsburgh
Nickeil Alexander-Walker, 6-5 guard, Virginia Tech
Keldson Johnson, 6-6 guard, Kentucky
Jordan Nwora, 6-7 F, Louisville
Zach Norvell Jr, 6-5 Guard, Gonzaga
Charlie Brown, 6-7, F, St. Joseph's
Jaylen Nowell, 6-4, G, Washington
Devon Dotson, 6-2, G, Kansas
Sam Hauser, 6-8, G, Marquette
Tyler Hall, 6-5, G, Montana State *amazing shooter
De'Andre Hunter, 6-7, G, Virginia
Darius Garland, 6-2, G, Vanderbilt
Anthony Lamb, 6-6, F, Vermont

I hope when Love comes back this is where Nance gets his minutes. The coaching staff haven't done a good enough job driving home the idea that he needs to become a 3 pt shooting threat. He needs to play PF and SF so he has no other choice but tomorrow on that part of his game. Push him out to the 3 point line and make him decide what to do from there. Using him at the high post just doesn't help him develop in his areas of need.

Alexander Walker and Hunter are my guys. they just seem like NBA players to me. They will be 10 year vets and good shooters which we need. They might go slightly higher than our pick tho.,..

I hope Jordan Clarkson is next. I'll trade him for a 5 layer burrito.

Clarkson has value and we devalue him because he is useless on a rebuilding team. But instant offense off the bench even with zero defense is a very important skill to a championship contender. I expect to get some value, but not a ton.

I like Kobys approach to trades. He seems not to drag them out for what would amount for same valve in the end. He now has time to focus on the more complex trades if they can be had.

Going to take more than this for me to forgive Koby for the awful trades last year

Also, not going to get super excited about non lottery picks until I see more proof we can draft

That's on teh Coaching staff IMO. They weren't able to integrate a single player not named Korver

Then you have nothing to say until the draft ? I love how people think GMs around the league are great and Cavs always suck. Look how many teams have never won a championship Milwaukee’s last was when they had jabbar. We won one cuz lbj was born here The “great” gms are in big market desirable cities. That being said kobi would not of f upped the Davis situation like magic did

I wish they would clean house before the draft. Maybe get Walton for head coach? looks like he may be on his way out of L.A

I like Walton pretty well.

The other guy I like is Jerry Stackhouse. He gets guys in the Gleague to play together and is a defensive mind. Both things we really need. He has been in the league. I dunno why, but that type of glue guy as a player usually ends up a good coach. He has real coaching experience too unlike a guy like Kidd who I am not a believer in.

I would totally be fine with Walton. It hasn't been fair to him sort of like it wasn't with Blatt. I'm surprised at how pedestrian Walton's offense is. He was such a good passer and read offense so well as a player.
