Here's one I just cooked up.

Cleveland Cavaliers trade:

Larry Hughes, PG/SG, 3 yrs 38.4M left
Anderson Varejao, PF/C, Resigned for 7M per year
Ira Newble, SF, 1 yr 3.4M left

Golden State Warriors trade:

Jason Richardson, SG, 4 yrs 51M left
Adonal Foyle, C, 2 yrs 18.6M left
Sarunas Jasikevicius, PG, 1 yr 4M left

Why Cleveland does it.....

Ever since drafting "Batman" in LeBron James, the Cavaliers have been on a seemingly never ending quest to find his "Robin", or at the very least another player capable of scoring 20-25 points on any given night without needing LeBron James to hand feed him the points. Jason Richardson is more then capable of creating his own offense and scoring in bunches which is one thing this team desperately needs (not to mention an actual offensive system, but that's a whole other debate). Richardson is also only 26 years old which means he's still young enough to continue to improve as a player. His contract is the only negative, but with Gilbert giving Ferry the A-OK to go into the luxury tax, its not as big of an issue. Adonal Foyle has a terrible contract and isn't much better as a player, but he does block some shots which is something this team definately lacks. Foyle would give this team another legitmate center, so he might be able to squeeze 10-15 minutes out per game backing up Zydrunas. Jasikevicius is good friends with Z and playing with one of his best friends might do him some good. He could challenge for some backup point guard minutes. If he doesn't crack the rotation, he only has one year left on his contract and if you watched the playoffs, you know he's one of the most entertaining towel waivers in the league.

Why Golden State does it.....

The Warriors rode Nellieball as absolutely far as it could take them last year, including a shocking upset over the #1 seed Mavericks. However, once they matched up against a team their head coach didn't know like the back of his hand, they were badly exposed for the gimmicky offense/defense they really were. Mainly, the Utah Jazz front court murdered them on the glass and scored at will in the paint. Enter Anderson Varejao. Varejao is limited offensively, but he would provide an instant upgrade to the Warriors biggest weakness; rebounding. Varejao averaged 11.3 RPG as a starter with the Cavaliers this year and with his energy, mobility, and willingness to run around like a maniac setting screens, he seems like great front court fit for Nellieball. Larry Hughes has a poor contract, but he does have one year less on his deal then Jason Richardson which is always a plus in today's money fueled NBA. Hughes has also shown in the past that he's at his best in a free-flowing offensive system in which he is free to make things happen with the ball in his hands. Hughes would also step right in and be the Warriors best perimeter defender. Ira Newble is just cap filler as his salary nearly matches Sarunas's. Basically, the Warriors get a massive jolt to their biggest weakness AND dump their two worst contracts. When you factor in they also have guys like Monta Ellis and Matt Barnes waiting in the wings to fill minutes at the 2 and 3 spots, they can afford to move Richardson to pick up some rebounding.

Thoughts?

I think this is a very solid trade idea CBBI... And one that I could see the Cavs FO discussing...

But from my perspective, I have some worries about it...

- Foyle hasn't done anything throughout his career and is on the wrong side of 30 and I doubt he could do much here... For the money we'd be paying him/and assets that would be given up for him, I don't see him being too valuable... He wouldn't be anything more than a Scot Pollard type here, which is pretty sad for his pay...

- SJ is a nice player and I think he'd fit in real nice here, but we already have 3 PG's on the roster and we don't need another one... As much as I wouldn't mind him, we don't need to logjam the PG position anymore than it needs to be... We'd need to at least get rid of one of them somehow before taking on another one... Plus we need a starting PG, not a backup...

- As much as I like JRich and his game, I think his shooting is something to be questioned, especially: FT%, FG%, TS%, Clutch jump shot eFG% and Crunch time eFG%... Just for comparison's sake versus Hughes:

Hughes

FG% = 40
Career = 41.3
FT% = 67.6
Career = 74.8
TS% = 48
Clutch jump shot eFG% = 36.8
Crunch eFG% = 30.4

On top of that, Richardson also has a pretty low rebound rate per 40 minutes for a guard his size and leaping ability... And on top of that, his defense isn't all that great...

- Another concern of mine is giving up Varejao without getting a young big back... If we were to get a guy like Blatche then I really wouldn't mind, but I'd be worried about going into the season with Z, Foyle, Gooden, and Marshall frontline... There really isn't a bright future there and that's what I worry about...

Solid idea, but I'm torn...

JRich

FG% = 41.7
Career = 43.3
FT% = 65.7
Career = 69.2
TS% = 51.2
Clutch jump shot eFG% = 23.5
Crunch eFG% = 30

I'd prefer Stephen Jackson over Sarunas Jasikevicius but..we'd have to add too much most likely.

Why would we do a trade like this. Hughes is just as good of a shooter if not better than jrich plus hughes brings the defense. Jrich is a player that does good in that type of system like hughes does so we should just keep hughes because its less money and hugehs is better on defense. Varejao>Foyle and i didnt know that guy is making 9mill a year lol. As smooth said he would be playing the role of pollard for that much money lol. If we could trade Newble, Wesley of Jones for Jasikevicius do it.

Would need a young like Monta if we are giving up Andy

If you take a look at the stats, JRich has Hughes in every category except for FT% and crunch time/clutch time eFG%... (FG%, 3PT%, TS%, Jump shot e FG%, eFG%; both last year and career wise) So I don't see that part...

IIRC, didn't JRich have his best years under Montgomery, who didn't play a up-tempo offense?

Smooth yea your right this is one of jrich down years. However hughes best year and jrich best years are about the same.

You think Hughes is on Jason Richardson's level...?

Can I have the name and number of your dealer?

I'd love to get Richardson here. He can be an actual 2nd option to LeBron. Cavs are giving up a lot but you do have to give up something to get something.

I'd probably do this deal. Cavs are giving up a player who doesn't fit in Hughes. I like AV but he is a good role player, not a star. Foyle's terrible contract would be tough for the Cavs to take on. He could at least fill the Pollard role and he can block shots.

I'd like to get Patrick O'Bryant in this trade too. He'd give the Cavs a young C to develop behind Z. O'Bryant doesn't seem to fit at all in GS and Nelson supposedly isn't high on him. I don't see a future for him there so they might be willing to give him up for little.

The Warriors are an interesting team that the Cavs could be looking at for some type of trade.

I like the trade better if we swap Gooden for AV.

I second that.

And, if we plug in Donyell Marshall instead of Newble.

Ends up like:

Richardson, Foyle, Jasikevicius

Hughes, Gooden, Marshall

Kinda like the Indy trade at the deadline...

This would leave us with just Z and AV, plus we'd likely have to pay Andy through the nose to keep him. Having said that, if we could keep Andy's contract from being too outrageous and then sign McDyess and draft Spittler, that would make for an improved lineup:

Gibson/Snow/Saras
JRich/Brown/Jones
James/Sasha/Newble
AV/McDyess
Z/Spittler

If you wanted to go really young, swap McDyess with Blatche, but then we're really unproven up front on the bunch. Who could we get with the Bi-annual to round out that team? We'd also still have Jones, Wesley, and Newble to trade for something.

I like the idea of McDyess on the Cavs (although I'd like to be there the first time he shook hands with AV after the clothesline), but he has been talking to Detroit reporters about being a year or two away from retirement. Something makes me think that the Cavs would much prefer to get someone at the start instead of the end of their career, unless he's a player to push the team over the edge into a title.

We shoulda went after Jackson when every1 hated him.I have always loved Jackson,his game is one of my favorites.

Jason Richardson is such a teaser-star. He's super athletic, so he gets everyone's attention, and he can drop 30+ pts on any given night. However, I watch a ton of Warriors basketball out here in NorCal, and I gotta say that the guy is just not good when it counts. He is awful in close games, and he was atrocious in the playoffs. I would MUCH rather have Monta Ellis.

Richardson is better than Hughes, but the difference he'd make on this team would be minimal, and what we'd give up to get him wouldn't be worth it.
