Cavs-Warriors Trade Idea

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

I second that.

And, if we plug in Donyell Marshall instead of Newble.

Ends up like:

Richardson, Foyle, Jasikevicius

Hughes, Gooden, Marshall

Kinda like the Indy trade at the deadline...

Why don't we do Z/Snow/Shannon for KG while we are at it.

Haven't any of you guys heard the old saying, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet?

I highly doubt the Warriors would even consider taking on Marshall's contract instead of Newble's expiring contract and I also don't think any team values Gooden more then Varejao.

Gotta be realistic here people. I love making up lopsided trades in the Cavaliers favor as much as the next guy, but I actually felt this was a somewhat fair deal. We get rid of the guy all of our fans hate in Hughes and we pick up a legitimate 2nd banana scorer. This deal would be even sweeter if we could sign Andray Blatche to take AV's old minutes.

I like the OP's trade idea but it's really contingent on the Cavs finding a more then adequate replacemecnt for AV. He's the big man with the most chemistry with Lebron

Gooden would fit very well with Nellie ball... he has an array of offensive weapons and is not shy on the glass. Phoenix Suns were very interested in his services last year, and I don't see why Golden State wouldn't be.
Plus, they already have their madman setting picks and crashing the boards... Andris Biedrins. Gooden would actually complement them better adding a post option to their fast paced offense.

In terms of Marshall, it would be tough to take on the contract, but it might be in their interest to add a shooter that can spread the floor, being a big. Nellie can't have enough shooters, and it's worth a shot to see if they'll take him. And besides, they'll be quite happy with dumping Foyle's contract for a smaller one.

i don't really see the fascination with Richardson. he doesn't seem to be neither the shooter nor the playmaker this team needs on the perimeter.

He can score 30 points a game on any night... from the perimeter or in transition. And do that for 3 quarters, then hand it off to LeBron.

when he has a top 5 point guard running the team. i'm not saying he can't do it with no point guard, just that we don't know that. This sounds much like the arguments for Hughes back when he was signed. He can score 20 on any night, slash, take people off the dribble, create his own shot, defend, etc...

Jason Richardson is an upgrade over Hughes... At the very worst, he's a serviceable Michael Finley like player for our team... Unlike Larry, who's a unserviceable scrub that is probably better suited for the game of checkers, as opposed to basketball..

Yea pretty much the same. I hope we can still get bibby. A bibby/hughes backcourt would be interesting

Richardson can create offense for himself and be another major scoring threat. That is another big need for the Cavs. J Rich showed he score before Baron Davis came to GS. He averaged almost 19 a game the season before Davis got there. Baron has also missed 47 games the past 2 seasons so he wasn't always there running the show.

Richardson would bring a nice 2nd option and good scoring threat. I'd be in favor of bringing him here.
It might be tough filling every major need in one offseason. If you can full this one really well than you do it.

CBBI is right about having to give something up in a trade if you want to add a major piece. Gooden might work instead of AV but if Varejao is the one who has to go than I'd still do it.
Still like to get O'Bryant included in the deal which I think is reasonable and would bring a promising young C prospect.

I want no part of Hughes on this team..he's absolutely worthless. His contested mid-range jumper is good for 10 bricks a game...if he doesn't suck during the game it's because he's on the bench in a suit.

i just don't think Richardson is an especially good fit - much like Larry. I think it has been pretty well established that Larry's skillset doesn't really complement what the team is trying to do. Well, i see Richardson as Larry 2.0. He mostly does that same things, just a bit better - except for the defense.

IMHO it would make more sense to find someone with different skills - i.e. superior outside shooting and passing, and better court vision. by the way, that's pretty much the same problem i have with the Rashard Lewis talk.

Jrich and Hughes play nothing alike on the offensive end. Rich depends in finishing and 3 point shooting while Hughes depends on mid range jumphots

This a no brainer exchange IMO

As sickening as it is to me to take on Foyle's contract I'm starting to think it would be worth it to dump Hughes and get a serviceable player in return in JRich. And I wonder if SJ would be a little more confident getting a fresh start here with his boy Z.

Hughes to Home Depot for a outside floor heater. Positves 1.Us fans could keep warm outside The Q waiting for tickets 2. more reliable, never seen one not working. 3. tougher, as long as you don't hit them to hard. 4. Better warranty. 5. less money to operate. 6. Will not see it in a 5 million dollar home, with a taped up pinky finger. Negatives. 1. Cleveland Clinic stock would drop.
