I think the entire RCF community would agree Cedi has skills, it's just that he never seems to understand which skills those are.. His current role fits him well. Pennies from heaven..

It's been kind of like the Peter Principle with Cedi. We've kept waiting for him to take that "next step", but in his case, the "next step" of taking a bigger role is right where he fails. As long as we ditch that idea and take him for what he is, he's a good player.

The downfall with him has generally come when someone ahead of him gets injured, and the calls come for him to "step up". And he's failed, every time. So to the extent we get hit with injuries, it's going to take some organizational/coaching discipline to keep him in his current role, and instruct others to step up into the role of shot-creator.

I mean if you look at it statistically, through 4 games Cedi has been our most consistent player. Which is funny because his career has been defined by inconsistency.

I think most of us are just waiting for the other shoe to drop eventually...but what if he doesn’t? Always having 1-2 elite playmakers and ball handlers on the floor with him like Garland, Mitchell and Rubio means Cedi should actually perform even better going forward.
If Cedi keeps up something close to this level of play, we are a better team than I thought we were. No Garland. Bad game for Mitchell. Off night for LeVert. Good games for Allen & Mobley. But we won largely because Cedi, Wade & Neto combined for 33 on 21 shots with 1 turnover.

I have to give him credit for making the simple play. Even when he was playing well last year he usually had a few boneheaded plays where he was trying to get fancy. He has protected the ball more on transition layups too. Felt like last year he was getting blocked at least once a game at the basket. He did on at least one last night, but overall he finished well and quickly despite their length

Cedi is a good bench player. Expecting him to be a primary option on offence is a bit too much. He plays his role well & produces constantly. I think he can be a 6MOY candidate at his peak.

Most starters are not primary options on offense, and whomever starts at the 3 for us isn't going to be the primary option. Cedi was playing with the starters down the stretch and looked great.

I am wondering if Cedi ever breaks into the starting lineup. I think his defense keeps him out of it, but he is so dynamic compared to your run of the mill shooter....

It just seems like the team starts to thrive the second another spacer whether it is he or Love gets on the floor. If they continue to start Levert, I think I'd take him out pretty quickly to give Mitchell and Garland some extra spacing sooner rather than later.

First off, I'm not complaining at all about Cedi. He is starring in his role. His transition offense and defense are superb, he pushes pace, and he cut back on the "where is my mind?" fouls.

But that's his role off the bench. For all the grief people gave LeVert for being a "bad talent match with the starters" he really has transformed his game to be a strong fifth starter. He is setting up bigs with good passes and defending. Do we want a better shooting percentage than 30%? Sure, but his floor game is a winning approach.

The board's darling boy Drippy Dean will have some starts at some point, but the LeVert/Cedi duo can't be praised enough so far in this young season.

Tell me the truth... you posted this because of my Pixies mention in the grocery store music thread!

As we're fond of noting, it's more about who finishes the game than who starts, and Cedi has looked quite good finishing games with the "starters". I think it could be interesting to see how that plays out as the season moves on with LaVert and Cedi, and then into the future given their contract situations.

My guess is that Lavert probably stays as the starter for at least most of this season. Cedi does take fewer bad midrange shots (my biggest complaint about LaVert), which may matter when attempts are at a premium given the other starters. But who really knows....

It's a good problem to have.

I wanted to throw this guy out of a window.
Now, I don’t want to push him so much.

I like how he's always looking to push on offense. The defense of the other team is half assing back and he's looking to push the pace.
