In the context of the post you're replying to, I believe that maximizing assets is always important. As a life-long fan of this team, I obviously care about their success this season, but I also care deeply about this franchise beyond just this season. If there's a deal out there involving LeVert that may hurt us a little this year but improves our chances the next few years, I'm absolutely considering it.

I understand that you're not a Cavs fan but that you are particularly high on them this season, and have put your money where your mouth is. And for what it's worth, I do appreciate the love for our boys. But I'm guessing that the majority of us on this board are tempering our expectations for this particular season, yet have gigantic hopes and dreams for the next half decade or so given how young our core dudes are. I don't think LeVert has shown enough to make us confident that he is a core piece going forward. And if that means he may walk next offseason, then I'm all for exploring what we can get for him before the deadline.

trying to figure out whats going to happen two years from now let alone five is not how the current nba is set up....especially when you take into consideration that mitchell is in all likelihood a short-term rental.

barring any injuries the chances of a world-class guy like gilbert taking a shit second-rounder this year for levert is close to zero....1000/1...in fact...the chances of gilbert taking a flyer on mcdermott and his 14mm next year and a second rounder is probably close to a pik em.

levert aint going fukn nowhere because without him thats where the cavs are going this year...nowhere....and nowhere are you going to find a winner like dan gilbert doing stupid ass shit like throwing away year one of three because hes trying to get something inconsequential back for levert...he has caris for this year and that was the plan....there is not going to be any tit-for-tat trade(hardaway/levert)....and most certainly there is not going to be any downgrades.....gilbert is going to pull the trigger because thats what winner mentality does.

I'm a huge fan of the Rubio signing, but you hit the nail on the head. I'd love to see Rubio pick up right where he left off, but I don't believe it's going to happen this season. I'm sure his hoops IQ will mask the knee offensively, but defense will rely on how well he trusts that knee. I just want 80-90% Ricky at a physical perspective by the playoffs. Even that might be wishful thinking.

come the playoffs....rubio is hopefully pencilled in at 10-12/game at the 1...caris levert playing the two and the three for 25/game has absolutely nothing to do with ricky rubio

i could be wrong....but i dont think so

Mitchell is not at all likely to be a "short term rental." Get real, gambler. Sounds like you've been indoctrinated by arrogant New Yorkers.

Gambler just wants to win his bet this year and dgaf about the Cavs long term LOL

next year is next year...this year is this year

I agree with this - I don't think you punt on this year based on a brief that our "real" window doesn't open until next year. When Rubio comes back, and everyone is healthy....Cavs could make a run and potentially win it all with some breaks.

...the bottom line is this...without levert the cavs have no shot at the ecf...

I don't agree with that at all. It could still turn out - this year - that either Wade or Okoro turns out to be just as good as LaVert, or at least close enough not to preclude a shot at winning. LaVert isn't so clearly that much better that his loss ends any chance we might have.

Any insiders know what position Cedi had JBBs wife when he walked in on them?

He has a vendetta against the man.

punting is not an option this year...thats complete loser mentality

you want dean wade to give you 30 a night?.....no way do teh cavs go into the all star break with that mindset nor okoro being the guy ....isaac could be the guy in the future if he develops a shot...he has legit nba open court skills to go along with a first step but they need experience if they are gong to get to the ecf

and look at leverts numbers....for all brogdon is doing for the celtics caris is not that far off especially when you take into consideration their defensive ratings and the fact that malcom is inexplicably shooting 44 from the three...if he reverts back to the mean...caris is arguablly the better player(while playing more minutes) and the celtics are no longer the favorites should brogdon get injured....

Its not punting but frankly no team thinks in one year steps anymore. Its not 2002 where the Bucks are trying to be a perpetual 40 win team.

You have to plan for the long term, especially when you have a young core like ours.

Cavs are probably what...7th best team in the league this year? We might be able to jump to 5ish with the right trade but that would flush our potential success in 24-28.

Its not a losers mentality to look ahead. Foresight is more valuable than pushing all the chips on the table for a miniscule increase in odds.

there is nothing guaranteed anywhere that a player is going to stay with his current team after his ufa contract expires.....and thats exaclty how management goes about it.

do you think lebron gives a fuk about the lakers long-term?....or AD?.....

its a win-now league.....and you bet it accordingly

I really wanna believe Cedi can work here and Rubio will help revive him, but I just don’t think it’s going to work with this coaching staff.. Cedi gets the quick hook and seat next to the coach far too often — justified or not..

There will have to be some decisions made when the team gets healthy, and he feels like he may be on the outside looking in right now..

Best bet moving forward might be swapping him out for another shooter who can do it consistently…

I didn’t realize he’s the only forward in NBA history, I’m not sure how we can trade this guy now.

I don’t know what’s more impressive, this or Joe Thomas being the first lineman in NFL history.
