I don't know why we don't try to start him. I get the balance aspect but he complements the starters perfectly. So we need to figure this ish out...okoro is a very POOR fit with the starters.

He deserves a chance to start I think.

It's hard to pull Okoro because the answer is the SL has been very very good with him in it. They said on the Chase down that the unit is +20. So it's true the defense is damn good and offense is actually better than you would think too.

However, a guy like Cedi who can do the leaking out and finishing like Okoro, but will also have a fast trigger as well as better playmaking would really make that unit thrive.

He can't do the POA defense the way Okoro can and that's why he won't start. JB would rather disrupt the other teams flow. I get that, but Cedi's numbers with Darius and Donovan are fantastic.

JB doesn't trust him. I'm in no hurry to trade him because I see him revving up again with Rubio and I see him as pretty crucial to the Cavs success

Since Okoro entered the starting lineup we’re barely a .500 team, not saying that’s all on him but I don’t see the evidence pointing too him being the guy to start

Bench is what has lost the game most games. Starters were pretty positive all of January. Even with a few bad shooting nights the starters have consistently outscored the opposite starters

Yeah, and the bench has been very inconsistent as both LeVert and Cedi are capable of putting up 20 points or 5 on any given night. I'm hoping that getting Rubio back will make it easier on these guys and Wade as well.

Cedi works really well with Love and so does Rubio IIRC. That trio could be a nice bench core for us along with Wade or LeVert and one of the bigs.

Looking at Cedi's last 10 games, in nine of them he either played 7 minutes or less or 22 minutes or more. Part of that may involve Love or LeVert not being available on a given night, but I also think Bickerstaff watches Cedi closely in his first few minutes on the floor and makes a judgement as to whether he's "on". If he's not, Cedi is pulled after 3-7 minutes, not to return. If Cedi hits his first 3-pointer and looks like he's impacting the game on both ends he ends up playing 22+ minutes.

JBB does not seem to have confidence that if Cedi gets off to a bad start he can work his way out of it. And I don't see that changing. Now that Rubio and Wade are back JBB will have more options - there's also Stevens and Love. Cedi needs to have the ability to come in and impact the game immediately. If he bricks his first couple of shots and screws up on defense he's probably done for the night. Sorry, but this is the NBA and we're not a 25-win team anymore. You need to be able to hit the ground running every night, at least until we get rid of Love and LeVert.

If you want Cedi to play up to his potential you need to let him screw up plays occasionally. Literally every single basketball player in the NBA, including on winning teams, screws up plays and misses shots sometimes. He's earned the right to do the same and have the team show some faith in him. You're undermining his confidence by doing otherwise.

Cedi is probably the most inconsistent shooter I've ever watched. It's not coaching.

On the season to season level he's been extremely consistent. For five out of his six years in the league his three point percentage has been between about 35 and 38%. In 2020-21 it dipped to 30% but that's the only year it was subpar. He's also pretty consistently put up about 6-8 three point shots per 36.

I don't think he's all that inconsistent really. A lot of three point shooters are streaky to some degree or other. But if you make it a thing you'll notice it more. Also, if JBB gives him the hook every time he misses a few shots that will make him look more inconsistent than he is.

I know all things wrong with the Cavs trace back to JBB, but come on. Cedi has been an inconsistent shooter since before he entered the NBA and across several different coaches. I'd love to believe this Cedi turning the corner, buy I've seen him go cold for an entire months one too many times.

Love hurting his finger and going cold really killed the bench scoring. If that finger heals, I think it would be a mistake to keep him glued to the bench, because when he's playing well, he's a huge offensive boost.

Why'd this dude get 27 minutes last night, while Wade and Green combined for 8?

At least his missed layups covers up for his missed free throws. Or is that the other way around?

Today is "Waive or keep" day for Cedi's contract. I've heard no news. I think that means "keep"

It's really too bad he hasn't covered up his inadequacies, he has many intangibles we need, if we could only rely on it.

Clearly the Turkish Kobe

The best post in this entire thread is the last post on page 1.

Cedi’s option was picked up. Whether he’s kept or dealt is yet to be seen, but we have the first Cedi for at least a little bit longer.
