Wilcox's name keeps coming up as being available at the right price. I remember when he was drafted that the Cavs and a bunch of other teams thought he had a lot of upside. Last year in 19 minutes a game he averaged 8 points and 4 rebounds, hardly overwhelming. But I notice that in November, when he averaged 30 minutes a game, he averaged 14 points and 7 rebounds while shooting 53%--Gooden-like numbers. But I don't know how good he is defensively, and upgrading the team's defense is its number one need in my opinion. If he's a strong defender, then maybe we should consider acquiring him and trading Gooden. But if he's a defensive dufus or head case I wouldn't be interested. Anybody know what his overall game and attitude are?

i always liked wilcox.. i would've thought by now though he would be putting up some solid #'s.. at least haslem numbers.

i think wilcox will have 1 more year to prove himself, and then he will be in the same place donnell harvey is.

Wilcox I am still convinced will be a stud in this league. He is still very raw and he's like 21 or 22, basically still learning the game after playing two years at Maryland. In that sense he is a lot like Gooden but his potential is a lot more then Gooden or Boozer. He's thick, muscular, and can jump through the roof. He's sort of an athletic version of Boozer in that sense

Although Amare looks like the superstar from the draft, I was more pissed we passed up Wilcox when we drafted Wagner that year.

Wilcox is a classic player that is almost a starter, but not. He's good enough, but yet not. Much like drew gooden was.

I don't see how wilcox would improve us. Obviously if he was starting next to Z he'd average a double double like every other power forward we put next to him. That would raise his trade value, but I'd rather go get somone we are planning our future on.

In my visit to the USA late last year I was lucky enough to watch the Cavalier's / Clipper's game. Wilcox was the starter then and he caused havic. He is very athletic and long. Defensively he contests shots and rebounds solidly. He does get pushed around a little, but has a great body and fundamentally sound defender. Offensively he is raw, but can finish strongly on hustle plays. He to me is a perfect replacement if we were to move Gooden. If they were to lose Simmons this summer, they may be willing to do some sort of Pavlovic for Wilcox trade.

Big sign and trade Gooden/Sasha/Harris's expiring contract for the Clipper 1st rounder, Simmons, and Wilcox.

I would do it as the 1st rounder we could pick up somebody like Jack for the PG sport and Wilcox like I said before has more potentiol then Gooden. If we resign Z that would leave us with:

Z/Wilcox/Lebron/Simmons/Jack with Snow, AV, Traylor, Welsh, and Luke off the bench. it would be a significant upgrade over our current roster and we would finally have a young PG for Snow to mentor.

am i missing something ?

the clippers do have a power forward that averages 20 pts 10 boards every year don't they ?

why in the he!! would they want to add a power forward who is almost clinically retarded ?

with that said, i'm willing to give drew some time because i believe his offensive talents can become even better, and i believe his defensive abilities with a defensive coach will improve.

If we do secure A Joe Johnson, retain Z, I feel Gooden becomes a bad mix. Mike Brown is all about systems, and I dont feel Drew has the mental capabilities to be strong in this area. He also needs some ball. He instantly becomes 4th option which will not please him. He put up with his situation this season where he wasn't a focus as he needed to turn his career around. But you can see it at times, when he gets the ball he forces things as he hasn't had many touches. Dont get me wrong, Gooden took great strides thispast season, and I will be happy to see him in the wine and gold again. I just believe he talents will not be suited to what Brown will be instilling.

I wouldnt mind that trade Pioneer, but i doubt the Clips would go for it and ball handling is a supposed weakness of Simmons and I dont think I trust either to be capable of defending a 2 guard.

I think we could make it work here with SImmons, I like him, but it's about making it work, as karma said. Somethings mix and some dont. Simmons does have defensive effort and I believe Brown could make him work here.

Great idea. If Cleveland had Simmons, James and Wilcox, they would become a very physical team. People always talk about how strong Maggette is but I've seen Simmons in person and he's probably even thicker/stronger than Cory is (Cory is just more cut). Simmons is just a total brickhouse of a man. Putting him next to James would be a ton of power in the 2-3 spots, perhaps to the extent no other team in the league could rival it.

Why do I think the Clippers be interested: all about money. They're going to lose Simmons this summer but they'll get a cheap and talented replacement in Sasha.
Add harris's contract again save them money: cheap buyout. Why Gooden, last year of a rookie deal. By the end of next year they'll have a ton of money to build on their real core of Livingston, Brand, Kaman, etc.
