Cleveland Browns 2019 season predictions

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
12-4 regular season, AFC North division champions, I get my balls tattooed orange and brown and laminated week seven or eight. Baker throws for almost 5,000 yards and impregnates two women, and that is a testament to his own restraint. Myles Garrett breaks the team sack record for the regular season in week 14 and tames wild alligators in his spare time. Don't laugh or dismiss me, I woke up one morning and read that Omar Vizquel developed his hand quickness by catching live anacondas in Central America. Oh, then we lose in the AFC Championship because of a blown call. The NFL will wait fifteen minutes reviewing it and still get it wrong. Boom, end of season.

I'd vote this most likely

I think there's something to be said about WHO we beat last year.

You can expect this team to be significantly better and still finish 9-7.

I'm not sure I see why our average season should be discounted because of who we beat - especially when you look at games like home against Pittsburgh, and New Orleans that we so easily could have won. The Oakland loss was just horrible coaching. We were beaten badly by KC while missing huge chunk of our back 7 on defense, but beat a good Denver team in Denver, and split two really tight games against the Ravens.

To me, that seems typical of an average team - generally beat the bad teams and lose to the good, but beat some good ones and lose to some bad ones. Maybe even a bit better given how close we were against some really good teams.

There's also something to be said about us ignoring the offensive line. If you believe the OLine makes an offense go, the Browns are ripe to disappoint this year. Bitonio's a stud.

We lost only one guy from a highly ranked OL, and brought in some new guys to compete for the job. I don't see how that constitutes "ignoring" the OL.

There's just a lot that can go wrong.

True. I mean, if we have some really bad luck, 9-7 is certainly possible. But if we have just "ordinary" luck, and still only manage 9-7, I think that would be pretty crushing. I would be at a loss to see what else we could realistically do to get better.

Exactly.

We upgraded our RBs, WRs, D-Line, CBs this offseason and put competition in place at Safety, O-Line, and Kicker. Drafted to help bolster our LBs which was a big question mark headed into the offseason. Safety has been going well in camp, O-Line and Kicker just hasn't shown anything at this point.

Point is: we're doing what we can. Can't get upset if we don't have a bonafide starter at every position on the team.

Do you suppose they solve the OL issue once and for all in the draft next year?

It seems the perfect time to draft an anchor there.

I suppose Corbett was supposed to be the answer, but given the embarrassment of riches at the skill positions now, to think for once in forever they are stacked at QB, WR, RB, CB, DE, it seems high time to draft OL in the First Round. Maybe moving up into the Top Ten to do so.

I really think a lot depends on what happens this season, and who is on the board when we pick. And if we do decide to go OL...guard, or tackle?

Agreed - investing in draft picks on the OL is critical for controlling costs on this team.

Really sucks that Corbett hasn't been good. That would make a huge difference.

Corbett was a head scratcher back then. I remember thinking that he was a reach.

I think they got caught being too smart on that one.

"He can play multiple positions! C, G or T! Brilliant!"

Unfortunately he plays none of those positions well....

Somebody stood on the table for Corbett that early. I liked him as a late third or early fourth rounder... and at the end of the day, that is where you draft a guy too-small-for-tackle and not a fast-twitch type athlete who mauls.

I wanted Nick Chubb as the first pick of the second round so I never put up much protest. I wanted Zeus Brown Jr. at that other high second spot as Baker's personal bodyguard and the eventual right guard/tackle.

4-12. Baker takes a major step back. Freddie shows the lack of experience. Myles is exposed for having only two moves and sets the record of jumping offsides. OBJ gets hurt. Even more of Dorsey’s draft picks bust. Haslam cleans house yet again, showing he’s still an awful owner.

I could totally see this as a possibility. I think we are past this though.

BMAN is like you fuck my Indians section, I fuck your Browns section

I am going with 11 wins.. I think the offensive play book is making Blough look acceptable with Montgomery as his primary target..Take that same system and plug in Mayfield and OBJ, with Chubb in the back field, offensively we will be a threat on every possession..

Defensively, I am ambivalent about the system.. it looks innovative but it seems we have a lot of average behind the line.. Ward is lock down, but not sure Greedy is going to be ready this year, and I don't see the athleticism beyond that.. I think the best thing about the Defense is the current warrior attitude. They are working and hitting hard. The test will be how that holds up after we get beat.

In any case this is going to be the best year to be a browns fan Inna long long time..
