Cleveland Browns 2021 Regular Season: RIP

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cap is going up to 208, which is a 26 mil jump.

Still think Jarvis needs a rework, but uh… money to play with?

The cap is basically a myth, so if the Browns want to spend money they’ll be able to figure out how to spend money.

But a lot of guys are getting pretty significant cap hit increases.

Baker +$8.29M
Hooper +$5.00M
Johnson +$4.10M
Ward +$3.85M
Garrett +$3.61M
Teller +$2.20M
Conklin +$2.00M
Hill +$1.50M
Hunt +$1.38M
Chubb +$430K

Clowney has a 3.6M dead cap charge if he isn't resigned. Malik Jackson has a $1.89M cap charge if he isn't resigned. Walker has a dead cap charge of $1.16M if he isn't resigned.

So adding all that up, that's right at $38-39M in cap hit increases/dead cap charges from guys who are all likely to be retained.

A couple of cap hits decrease slightly...

Bitonio -$1.50M
Tretter -$1.19M

A couple of guys who made decent money won't be back - Harrison ($2.18M) Higgins ($1.12M) - who will be allowed to walk, but Njoku is an unrestricted free agent that I'm sure they'd like to retain.

The Browns can release (or restructure) Landry and Keenum and save $15.05M and $6.5M respectively.

They have options.

I had a lucid dream that the Browns traded Baker, Higgins and Hooper to Green Bay for Rodgers, then they signed Adams and resigned Njoku. It was a good half-dream.

With Marlon Humphrey out and Baltimore's secondary already a statistical pile of poo, I'm really looking forward to all the old man "run the damn ball" takes when the Browns come out throwing on Sunday afternoon.

That's a solid NBA "star for pu-pu platter" trade right there :)

Can't wait to see the tested theory of Baker needing more rest.

I fully expect him to play like shit again against the Ravens and for everyone to come up with some other excuse that has not been cast out there yet. :chuckle:

What a stupidly frustrating year. No one wants to win the division and the Browns have thrown away 3-4 games this year, because we can't get reliably competent offensive play week to week.

It'd probably be double that if they had won that very winnable Baltimore game. Sad face

Probably higher. We'd be in the driver's seat had we won that game.

We would have had the chance to sweep both Cinci and Baltimore.

My head hurts.

The most frustrating loss to me is still the Chargers game. Felt like we mostly dominated that game and every time we had a chance to put them away for good we failed. Or in one specific instance the refs completely fucked us.

Lets see...

Odell...
The defense...
Joe Woods...
Odells dad...
Stefanski...
Team Injuries...
The fans...
Bakers injuries...
The receivers...
The tight ends...
The (lack of) running game...
Playcalling...

I guess all that's left is the weather?

Honestly feel like the Steelers and Ravens games were far, far more frustrating.

We win both of those, which we should have, our divisional chances are through the roof right now.

To lose two games, where the defense gave up 15 and 16 points, is so mind numbingly stupid.
