Cleveland Browns 2021 Regular Season: RIP

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

17 points or less in 7/12 games this year. This offense is broken.
Obvious this offense is broken, and its been broken for at 6 weeks. It starts a QB who has a broken shoulder and bruised heal, throwing to a no talent receiving corps, with a back up RT, and a bust of a LT pick. The only none offensive line talent on the offense are the 2 running backs one of whom is coming off a pulled achillies and the other of whom had COVID.

Combine all of that with a head coach that relies heavily on conservative passing and a run heavy offense in the days when air attacks are all the rage... well its not a good combination.

Unusual things happen when the strategy employed is unusual. Our unusual strategy is starting a quarterback that can't physically play the position right now.

Just an observation, to those who say the Browns have the best offensive line in football:

That's only really true when Jack Conklin is healthy. The interior is elite but Hance is pretty terrible and Jed Wills is mostly mediocre.

With Conklin's 2022 season now looking to be in question, I wonder if it makes sense to take another early swing at LT and move Willis back to RT. And then of course there's the idea that Tretter could potentially be a cap casualty

Wills has been below mediocre. Dude just isn't trending in the direction we hoped.

Maybe a move to RT during the offseason would help especially if we move on from Conklin, but this o-line is eerily similar to 2019 when our tackles were just horrible.

Browns win by 4

Baker plays well.

Let’s get these fuckers. Myles and Clowney need to eat.

I think Kareem Hunt can see some good targets and get Baker in rhythm also.

Browns had every opportunity to win this game by 4 and for Baker to play well.

Down 13-10 with multiple chances at a drive down the field, just can't get it done.

This is true. On that first drive, it was very noticeable. Mayfield was marching right down the field because he could drop back without constant pressure from Conklin's man. Then the WRs failed him, Conklin goes down, Hance came in, and the offense went back to historically bad. Mayfield could no longer drop back without instant pressure from Hance's man.

If we are going to keep Mayfield next season, I suggest going all out and making the tackle positions as elite as they can be.

Not to mention next season we need at least two elite receivers. People/media love to blame baker but what receivers are consistently beating man coverage? Landry with his injuries has looked slower this year and has had trouble creating separation. He plays hard and would love him back on a restructured deal but we need a DK metcalf, ceedee lamb type of guy

I've been thinking about that move for awhile now. I think it should be considered especially if the Browns are in a position to take one of the better LTs in the draft. I still think DE/DT are first priority and as much as I'd like to take a WR with our first, I don't know if the Browns FO would do it. But from a performance and a cap savings standpoint, I don't think it's an outrageous idea.

The term "beating the odds" is usually associated with something positive.

Good. Grief.
