Cleveland Browns 2021 Regular Season: RIP

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm keeping my eyes on the defensive line. They have been solid at stifling the run but seem like they are having difficulty getting to the QB. Just really inconsistent pressure and not finishing plays when they finally get in the pocket.

Mahomes maybe the exception but against Tyrod, Mills and a somewhat battered Texans o-line, they have to be better going forward.

Hopefully Woods will get more comfortable dialing up the type of blitzes you mentioned, especially if our pass rush continues to struggle.

The Dline ranks 6th in the NFL in win rate on passing downs. They are beating their guy but the coverage has been too soft. The QB's have been extending plays and throwing quick.

What we need to do is play a press man zone. Our zone has been too soft in the secondary. Keep our safeties deep, but have our outside corners play tight and take away the easy throws to the wide outs, then on passing downs, bring in Jok and allow do a better job of passing off the RB's and TE's in routes. They are going to keep the plays in front of them and only Ward and Newsome should have their backs to the play.

A bit more scheming on defense too. The sack we only rushed 4 because we dropped Myles into coverage. I know he is one of the best in the league, but more of that, if they double him like they have been, drop him, waste the 2 lineman who are confused, bring pressure from the other side, have miles keep an eye on the QB running....or some line schemes, and rush 5 on third and 10+, lets get off the field more.

I agree with all of this. Stefanski is the head doggy and it's his responsibility to meet with Woods and others and he needs to make it clear this shit has to stop, The goal this year is to win the Super Bowl. If the defense doesn't drastically change, that goal is out the window.

Also not buying into "well they haven't played together". 7 weeks of training camp is plenty of time. I'd rather have Greg Williams than Joe Woods.

I don’t want Fields to have a reason to not throw the ball.

Exotic blitz schemes work against, say, a Davis Mills. Fields will just shred you with his legs, and he’s already going to run… a lot. Nagy is going to run a Lamar-lite offense with Fields. The DE goal should be to force the ball out of Fields hands at all cost. Make him RPO over players, and make him hand the ball off.

If we’re dialing any blitzes, they need to be off the edge, like the Delpit blitz. Gotta get him to bail into the pocket rather than out of the back.

It’ll start off with the clip of Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino followed with me ominously jogging through and ultimately collapsing in a tomato garden like Don Vito. Cross-cut with an intense OBJ workout.

Video ends with me dying and a tomato rolling out of my hand toward the camera that shoots into a new shot, OBJ catches one-handed then winks at the camera.

A shot of a cheetah inside of a pen licking its chops is shown.

Florida Man Tom is my favorite thing that's happened in the last 2 years, easily.
Agreed… He’s enjoyable to watch.. He’s active on social media, has no fucks to give, and he’s dominating….

Guy is something else…

Doesn't that depend upon the quality of the individual opinion? How well reasoned it is, other more objective stats used in support, etc..? I agree that a lot of opinions aren't well-supported or well-reasoned, but others are. And I'm guessing PFF isn't always having multiple guys viewing every single play either, so in the end, it may very well be just one guy's opinion on which PFF is relying. There also isn't any "check" on whether or not a particular PFF opinion is correct, so it isn't a process of them refining their methods based on feedback versus an objective standard. So, if one reviewer's evaluations tend to be biased or simply wrong, there isn't any way to know that.

I'm not saying that PFF is of no value, or that in general, it isn't more reliable than the opinion of a random fan. I'm saying that PFF is not always going to be more valid that every opinion made by every other fan.
One should also note that RCF does have experts, real certified experts in the ranks.

Though, not always on the sports side.
