Cleveland Browns 2021 Regular Season: RIP

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I love the brown color rush but I think those absolutely wreck it. I’m a sucker for our all whites though in general.

DPJ is valuable for his blocking. Do not necessarily care about his receptions since our offense is built on running and sharing the ball to everybody.

I’d be curious to know if he’s generating separation. Is that tracked if they aren’t being targeted? That might be a bit subjective but I would still be curious

30 of the 48 targets this year have gone to backs or tight ends (32 if you count Felton as a RB). Part of that is no OBJ and one game of Landry. Some of it I am sure is scheme, But could be Baker is forcing the ball to WRa less in general as well.

I'm not sure what part of our offense would be improved by throwing to DPJ more during the first 2 games. Seems like that part of the team has been doing just fine.

It’s a good question, idk the answer.

As if any of us needed a reminder, Kevin Stefanski is very good at this. Also, the way Mayfield sells PA in the second play is *chef's kiss*

In addition to the fake, the speed in which Baker gets the ball to Hooper is fantastic.

Most other qb's take another gather step or two before they get rid of the ball.

I love questions like this--it shows you're actually looking to understand what's occurring instead of relying on some stats that don't tell the whole picture.

Matt Harmon's Reception Perception is the best resource I've found for tracking this sort of thing--but you have to pay for it and 2021 data isn't out yet.

One thing about DPJ--I'd bet his separation numbers aren't very good. He's a big guy who doesn't really need to shake a DB in order to be open. I still think his best routes are down the sideline where it's just him and a corner for a long contested catch--or a quick slant where he uses his frame to box out the DB like we saw on that fourth down in week 1.

Give me a receiver who excels in a limited role and blocks as well as he does and that's a guy that every team would love to have.

I mean, it wouldn’t be surprising if that’s the case; I’m sure he’s lacking in generating separation if/when he’s running routes that require a heavy amount of footwork. I take absolutely no issue with DPJ being a limited player; for what he’s offering at this point that’s still fantastic value for where he was selected in the draft.

if he was selected in rounds 1-2 I’m probably complaining more than inquiring. I had never heard that name so I appreciate the info. In short I agree — just explaining why. I think @Randolphkeys may have said at this point — he may just not be equipped or developed enough to beat a team’s top corner consistently either.
