Huge for Browns

Can’t even describe how much this changes how I view the Cardinals defense.

Part of why they are so successful, with regards to blitzes, is that they do one of three things.

They send an LB opposite of Jones, and outside of Allen/Watt to push the pocket towards Chandler.

They send a DB (usually Baker) to the outside of Jones, and force the tackle to pick. They used to do this on the opposite side, and still do when they bring more than 5.

They send a delayed DB after Chandler engages, and it’s usually bad news bears.

The Cardinals pass defense is pretty solid, even with MASSIVE wholes in the secondary, because they use Simmons/Thompson/Baker to all cover people, and rotate them all around the field. Simmons and JOK are projectile missiles used very similarly, except Simmons frequently is used in deeper coverage and in the slot. He’s nuts.

But a big part of WHY they are solid is because, on downs 1-3, they will force you to be uncomfortable. It’s why they get away with Marco Wilson and Rob Alford on the outside.

I firmly expect, with no Jones, a heavy dosage of 5-2-4 with the line on obvious passing downs being Golden/Allen/Watt/Gardecki and then a rotating quasi-NT to eat a block. I also expect a ton of run blitzes. They will violently attempt to snap holes shut. A lot of the running yards the Cards let up is when you spread them out and force them small. LA did it running out of the gun but fell behind and abandoned it. Jacksonville gashed them.

Long drives are the killer, and they are very beatable deep.

Him and Buddha Baker have been crushing it...huge if Chandler misses the game, but not a certain as he needs what 2 negative tests 24 hours apart if he is vaxxed, so first one Saturday?

Like you, I watch every cardinals game and for sure root for them when not playing the Browns. Rondale Moore has been fun as a Purdue alumni, but Chandler has been crushing it every week he is getting to the QB and getting rushes and hits constantly. He has been almost as good as Myles. Also Buddha Baker has been killing it too, and JJ has looked good and Simmons. But Chandler is a big part of that defenses success for sure.

Absolutely. It sucks we lost to KC and LA but you got to look at the bigger picture. We are only 1 game out of 1st place in both our division on the conference. We've proven at this point to be a legitimate contender. And there's no possible way the Ravens can continue winning games they have less than a 5% or 10% chance to win. Their luck has to run out at some point, regardless of how great Lamar plays, that team is simply not as good as their record right now.

The Browns still have everything in front of them. I've already gotten over the LA loss. It's time to kick Arizona's ass.

The ravens have an elite QB, HC and above average D. The browns are average at all three. This team should win 8-10 games but it’s gonna be tough to win the division.

I thought that was just if he came into close contact. I don't recall the rules if you actually get Covid.

Anyone very familiar with the rules here? If the dude tested positive just recently, provided it's not determined to be a false positive, can we be 100% sure he out on Sunday?

No, i looked it up, i was right from earlier....he has to test negative twice in 24 hours.

So all he has to do is test negative by saturday once and he could come back.

Average HC? You mean the HC that just won coach of the year?
Yes. Stefanski did win coach of the year but I wouldn’t put him in the elite tier of coaches. Bill B, Harbaugh, Reid, Carroll, Tomlin, Payton, Arians have all proven themselves to be elite. Then you have guys like McDermott and the two LA coaches…then you get to guys like Vrabel and Shannahan and Kingsbury…Stefanski probably falls somewhere in here. Or the middle third of coaches, sort of in the 14-18 range, Aka average. I’d put Baker and the Defense somewhere here too. Call it 10-20 depending on how rosy or not you are feeling. Solid, fringe contender/playoff team, but there are 7-8 teams ahead of Cleveland for sure.

What metrics are you using to measure the quality of these head coaches?

Because if it's win% you're way off base here. If you don't think the Stefanski sample size is big enough then that's what you say... calling him average would be a weird way to say that.

at work and read the past few pages of this thread...there are some awful Browns takes in here

I know the doom and gloomers are out in full force this week. They'll continue to circle jerk each other in fake fan tears while they claim we have an average QB. Now the argument is an average HC. I sure as shit know there are plenty of below-average posters on here.

Amidst the sea of shit, here are some nice numbers based on statistics.

We've got some young guys playing exceptionally well and that's a fact.
