Cleveland Browns 2021 Regular Season: RIP

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Defensively, the defensive backfield had players getting knocked out of the game left and right.

A certain demographic of Browns fans on Twitter need a scapegoat after a loss. Twitter has been a completely toxic app for well over half a decade. I don't allow public opinion on Twitter to encourage or sway my opinion on how the team is doing. If I did, I would have been thrilled with the Manziel saga.

An injury report isn't a convenient scapegoat, but plenty of great teams have lost due to injuries in this sport. Get this team healthy, they can still beat anyone.

at work and read the past few pages of this thread...there are some awful Browns takes in here
Avoid the Baker thread :chuckle:

Agreed. I think our safeties had a terrible game, and the injuries lowered the ceiling for our defense. I thought Woods was fine, and if we could replay that game it would look a lot different for our defense, whereas I see our offense running all over them again.

Oh well, tough loss - it'll happen against good teams sometimes. I still have full confidence we can beat anyone in the league.

What metrics are you using to measure the quality of these head coaches?

Because if it's win% you're way off base here. If you don't think the Stefanski sample size is big enough then that's what you say... calling him average would be a weird way to say that.

Super Bowls, playoff success, duration of success, getting the most out of the talent they have, in game management.

The bolded are all metrics you can't fairly judge Stefanski on and compare him with coaches who have been coaching for many years.

You also mentioned ~both LA coaches~ meaning you were including Brandon Staley who is a rookie HC. How can you rank him above Stefanski using those metrics, given Staley has only coached 5 games and thus, has no Super Bowls, playoff success, or any meaningful duration of success.

Honest questions here. If you're not trolling and this is your genuine view, then you might be able to at least understand why calling Stefanski average when he doesn't have anywhere near the longevity required (to accurately compare him with the other listed coaches based on your metrics provided) is probably not being fair to him.

Well Staley has the head to head win.

Im not trolling. Here is what I think: Stefanski is the best coach we have had since the return. I like him. However, his in game calls in high leverage situations are those of a below average HC. Same with his clock management. Right now I think he is an average to good NFL coach, but he needs work. He lost us the playoff game and the Chargers game.

His clock management is elite, the fuck you talking about?

According to the guy doing commentary on the broadcast, should have been a personal foul for leading with his head when he hit the QB. Got away with one there.

What the hell was he talking about? Takk had his facemask leading not the crown of his head. Not being a homer, but your helmet can hit first as long as its not the crown and not hitting their head. Its actually the form they teach now, not a penalty.

Okay, H2H wasn't listed in the metrics you provided.

I pretty vividly remember Trent Green complimenting Takk on his form and calling it a clean hit after this play on Sunday.

I know the doom and gloomers are out in full force this week. They'll continue to circle jerk each other in fake fan tears while they claim we have an average QB. Now the argument is an average HC. I sure as shit know there are plenty of below-average posters on here.

Amidst the sea of shit, here are some nice numbers based on statistics.

We've got some young guys playing exceptionally well and that's a fact.

Makes it even more hilarious when you go back and read the pre-season Greedy comments….

Even though I knew he was still the same talented CB we took in the draft.

Greedy has played better than I thought he was capable of. I thought he was good when we drafted him, but he has been playing at a pro bowl level. No knock on Greedy, just that his ceiling wasnt this high. Good for Greedy, hope he stays healthy for sure.

Well, his ceiling clearly was this high lol

I think it was fair to temper expectations with Greedy in the preseason. He struggled his rookie year and didn't play at all last year due to injury. I don't recall many on here trashing him, some were simply hesitant to expect major contribution out of him given how those first two years went - myself included.

Thankfully he has shown he can be an important piece to this team. If we can get him, Newsome, and Ward all healthy at the same time it could really elevate the defense.
