Cleveland Cavaliers Free Throw Shooting Watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Inexcusable for an NBA team to be this bad at free throws. What is our ranking as a team? I'd be shocked if we're not in the bottom 5.

It's more like half the team.

We do have excellent FT shooters:

Garland (91.3%)
Windler (87.5%)
Love (86.9%)
Lauri (86.3%)

Aaaaaaand then there's the Greatest Hits of the 60's and 70's:

Okoro (73.7%)
Mobley (68.8%)
Allen (68.4%)
Cedi (65.1%)
Stevens (63.6%)
Wade (61.1%)

Allen has never been a good FT shooter, but Mobley's inaccuracy is troubling. There's a strong correlation between FT and 3pt shooting, and quite a few people seem to be expecting Evan to become a perimeter player.

It's not a small sample either. Mobley has already shot 125 free throws this season, 3rd most on the team. Right now, he really is a sub 70% FT shooter. Needs to work on this a lot in the offseason.

Mobley breakdown on Free throws by month
October 7 games 80%
November 10 games 71.4%
December 11 games 81.5%
January 11 games 53.3%

For some reason January is when Mobley has cratered at the line

He might be hitting a rookie wall somewhat.

However, our spacing has also gone straight to hell in January. Mobley and Allen are banging a lot more in the paint, and that can affect your FT shooting.

He also cratered with 3 pointers starting in late December

Mobley's 3pt shooting is so low volume that it's hard to see any real trends there. Dude averages 1.4 attempts per game, and the last time he had more than one attempt in a game was almost a month ago.

Our ft shooting is the worst. There is no excuse for our ft shooting to be so poor. I've never seen it this bad, ever. The only players that I trust is Garland and Love. Everybody else I know will absolutely miss 1 or both. I feel like this isn't being emphasized and that's all on JBB. I never see anybody shooting fts before and after games.

Well the guys in the 60’s/70’s is 60% of our starters and the guys who close things out..

I’m surprised Cedi is a lifetime 72% shooter. I figured he would be better than that. Wade’s percentage is an anomaly that likely won’t last, he’s been 75% + the previous 4 years (college, g league & nba). Allen & Mobley need to be above 70% considering how many they shoot - neither is too far from that.
I think it’s gotten into their heads lately. I don’t remember us being this bad before the new year.

If Mobley, Allen, and Cedi keep shooting in the 60's they're going to get fouled a lot.
