Brandon Clarke has been practicing shooting 3s because he knew in order to go to the next level he needs to consistently be a threat from the perimeter. His work ethic paid off and shot over 50% (small sample 5-9) from downtown during summer league. I personally like Clarke over Nance but I hope Nance can improve his offensive game.
I like Clarke too over Nance but the Cavs have lock down Nance for the long term. It would have been hard to bring in Clarke and waste a year of development when he would be the 5th or 6th big man on the depth chart at 23 years old at the start of the season.
Add on top of that the extra salary it would have taken to get the pick and the luxury tax. 40+ million to bring in a player that you can't give playing time immediately because we have 3 bigs that we want to showcase for trade.
