It looks like Coach Porter will be leaving Akron to go to the MLS as the Portland Timbers coach.. this sucks.

He'll be here the rest of the season, but yes it does suck big time but I wish him all the best and hope he succeeds there

Is this for sure yet/confirmed? Wish he wouldn't, but understand why he would

Highly unfortunate.

However, after Lolla left, Porter did a damn fine job. Hopefully we have that same luck.

Akron will still remain a top program but this will surely hurt recruiting, easily the top college coach in the nation.

Best of luck to him in Portland- he'll be reunited with Darlington Nagbe.

Well if this isn't an extra level of motivation for the team.... I dunno what is. Good luck to Porter moving forward. We'll see if the incoming can recruit as well as Caleb, has anyone heard who they might be targeting?

NO idea yet... I study at akron and I am in the sports program so I heard Caleb will be hands on to finding the right guy to replace him, which is what I wanted. They will be doing everything after the season, they wont to focus on this season and this season only. Caleb thinks this team can win a Championship because of the talent. It'd be nice to get one more before he leaves... then maybe he can reconsider haha.

I just hope this doesnt put Akron behind the 8 ball when it comes to recruiting for next year. Not having a new head coach picked out will make it hard for recruits to commit.
