Man I wish Sexton made the rising stars game, would have been a major boost of confidence for him.

I disagree. I think missing the rising stars game will light a fire under Collin since they are basically saying he wasn't good enough to make it. It Will make him work harder to prove people wrong.

Interesting that Sexton wasn’t in the Rising Stars game. He’s better than Young or Knox.

He is not better than Young man.

He would have been a better add than Cedi though because he is more entertaining in that setting.

Young is crazy ineffcient and has major turnover issues. He is a better passer and currently a better shooter. But I would not say he is better then Collin. Both have issues. I feel like Collins issues (Shooting has already shown improvement and has the athletic ability to play defense) are more fixable then Youngs (Poor athlete hard to improve defense, Lots of passing will always lead to lots of turnovers with his height and skill level)

Right now Young is objectively better. He plays like a true floor general.

No matter whether you think Collin's issues are fixable or not.

Also, Young's shooting continues to improve.

To me it feels like Sexton is playing on a leash, cedi too. If the Cavs are tanking this year and wins don't matter, let Collins play free. If they let collin be the man he'd probably average 20pt a game.

Typical Sexton loves the underdog role statement. At some point determination/effort aren’t enough and you have to have talent to be a difference maker. Not sure Collin has enough of the latter.

Agreed, Young has made me a believer this season. Hawks have a bit of a squad forming there... but Young really is looking like Nash-like. his defense isn't good, but his passing and court vision is. If he can consistently hit Steph-distance 3s... look out. Young, Collins, Huerter is good basketball... while sub .500

Sexton needs some more help and spacing before we see him really taking off IMO. No Kevin Love through most of this season is a problem, but it probably keeps us in the bottom 3, where we need to be this critical season. When he plays more with Love? This thread will be silly.

Anyone saying Young isn't good hasn't watched him play over the last month. I hated Young as a prospect, but he is really coming along. Now the fact he was traded for Doncic who is going to be a future MVP candidate is laughable, but that doesn't mean Young isn't one of the top 5 players from this draft.

Agree on Atlanta. They look like they are following the Warriors way of building, concentrating on shooting skill and offensive efficiency with their high picks initially. Young's 3 ball isn't there yet but when it does come they will really be a fun offensive team. His main thing in college was his playmaking/floor general ability and although young, he already has some good weapons to get the ball to.

John Collins is developing his 3 ball also and if he continues to improve could be a Love type of player and that is not common in the NBA.

I was looking over Sexton's scoring splits recently and came across a weird thing: the first two weeks of the season he averaged 4.6 FTA per game and since then it has went down quite a bit and then started to come back up more recently:

October: 4.6
November: 1.9
December: 2.4
January: 3.5
February: 3.3

This is with an average of 9 shots per game in October games and much more the other months.

I know from watching the games that he often doesn't get foul calls when he should but I thought that difference between the October games and then the next two months was pretty striking. He averaged 7.6 attempts at the line in college so it is part of his game and also helps quite a bit with scoring efficiency since hes' a good FT shooter.

Another thing that stood out is his FG% from certain distances:

at the rim: 54%
3-10 feet: 31%
10-<16 feet: 37%
16 feet - <3pt line: 37%
3 pt range: 39%

These numbers look like either something is wrong with the offense where maybe he doesn't get the space he used to on his mid range, or he should just either drive and shoot 3s.
