Sexton is one of those players that looks to have a near elite NBA skill (scoring) and is passable in a few other categories..... but all anyone wants to talk about is what he isn't good at. He's like the black Kevin Love on here. With the 8th pick, the Cavs got a guy who looks like he can be a 20 PPG NBA scorer and do so efficiently. There's only 20 or so of those guys in the league.

Everyone also speaks about Collin like he is 28. Think about how much better he is from game 9 of last year to game 9 of this year. He has yet to turn 21 and he's gotten noticeably better with decision making, shot selection, defensive effort. Shot 40% from 3 on 3.6 3PA as a rookie.....42% on 5.0 3PA on his fast start this year. He is a LIGHTS OUT NBA shooter when many people weren't sure he'd be an average one.

I think he has some short comings that will likely remain, like his passing vision will probably always be below average......but you can easily envision him being one of the best 6 players on a title team. If we continue to draft above that cut line with our first round picks, this team is going to be very very fun (and good), especially with this coaching staff.
Nailed it.

He was the only Cav that looked good yesterday. I’m really enjoying watching his defense progress. I think he’ll always be a volume guy without great vision, but if this defensive ability is real, Sexton will become a really nice player.

I just dont't like his game: scorer who isn't terribly efficient with poor ast/to ratio is not something I tend to root for.

One concern is that it took a guy like Lou Williams a long long time to figure out and he is what I would expect Sexton to look like if he maximizes what he has shown. Both came into the league very young, quick, 6'1 scoring PG's. Williams was good enough to get minutes but he really didn't look like he could be something more till he broke out at age 23 when he finally broke into the starting rotation. Then he got journeyed around battling injuries till he settled into being an ideal 6th man/finisher.

Watching him get blocked 5 times at the rim a game is annoying. Hopefully he will learn in the near future you can pass out of the paint, and not as a last option as he usually does which leads to an inevitable turnover.

He does some things well but a lot of his game is just so ugly. I really hope we move on from him, we are at the start of our rebuild and can shape the roster how we wish... this 2 small guard line up won’t work when one of them has absolutely no court vision

Very impressed that Sexton has been much better defensively. I still remember last season at this time he was shooting those 23ft 2 pointers on the line and shooting bad shots. Amazes me how he has improved in a span of a year.

We dont know If Garland is even capable yet. Until we do, we sit tight.

One of the things that Lou Will has always done really well is drawing fouls and get to the line. His career FTr is double Sexton's.

nah disagree, move him while his value is still attached to his draft status. Undersized 2 guard with no vision, I am all out on him

I'm not all out on anyone. I just know that the pairing can not work.

I went to the game and without looking at the numbers, he is the only guy who passed the eye test, who looked like a guy you want on your team. I think there will be a lot of nights like that.

Doesn't Sexton match that description?

The journeyman who ends up settling for being a six man is far more common than Ginobili. Really Ginobili is the only guy that I can think of that was originally drafted by a team and became their long term six man at a high level.

Teams will take chances on guys like that and offer them starting positions and money to see if they can be a starter. Players don't settle on that role too easily and they will go seek out a better chances.

That's why Im all about trying to have the Cavs make Sexton and Garland work, while trying to develop Sexton to more than a six man. If they settle on him just being this teams long term six man, they will most likely lose him one way or another.

Agreed. He is almost 21. If he aint great by now get rid rid of him. Garland i would give to the beginning of his second season no improvement dump him
Windler injury prone. Not worth seeing if he has game
