So Sexton was the reason we made that made come back down the stretch, BUT sometimes I just wonder about this guy.

It's like his energy (and he has a TON) short circuits his brain a lot of the time he's on the floor.

Not sure what he was supposed to do on that play. He got stuck covering two guys because Porter was in no man's land. Powell in the corner had an easier shot and is a 40% 3-point shooter. If he goes right to Ibaka, Powell has an open corner three.

The actual smart defensive play was to pressure Ibaka's left side to negate the pass while defending the shot.. but splitting hairs, he was in no mans land there and was left on an island

Sexton is a lot of fun to watch with his energy. He was sliding losing his spot on defense, but because he is always balls to the wall, was able to come back into the play and get a steal.

January stats:
22.7 ppg, 2.9 apg, 3.5rpg, 0.9spg, 2.4 tpg
47.3% FG, 46.4% 3P (!) on 4.6 attempts, 92% FT

Best month of his career in terms of scoring and rebounds, his assists are also headed in the right direction - up to 3.7 for the last 10 games

Not voted to Rising Stars again... Might be a good thing, he and the other young guys can just reflect and work on their games for the 2nd half of the season...

Makes no sense when comparing him to other individuals who made the team. Tyler Herro? Really?!?!?! 19.6 pts, 3.3 reb and 2.5 ast. Crazy. Oh well, like you said, hoping this motivates him even more.

His vision is getting better. He will never be a guy that can think two-to-three passes ahead, nor will he ever be a guy that can deliver the ball to where the shooter likes to catch it, but that's okay. If Sexton can become a 3-5 assist per night player with a positive assist-to-turnover ratio then he will really become a nice player.

He is still trying to hard to finish over taller players and that is resulting in blocks. A big problem is that his handle has not improved to the point where he can get around defenders in the paint.

The kid is good and hopefully will still improve. The potential is all there.

They need to go back to the rookies vs sophomores. That international team selections are down right sad. Nickeil Alexander-Walker got in playing 12 minutes a game and averaging 5.8 points. Then they have Svi Mykhailiuk, Josh Okogie, and Moritz Wagner.

Also Zion making it after only playing 4 games is BS.

Don't you dare besmirch the name of Mo Wagner

Guy has been stellar this year. He's just been hurt about a month now.

He hasn't played since December 14th. For me it's odd that they will put in guys that have been injured for large parts of the season.

I get when they do it for the All Star game with vets that have been perennial All Stars but doing it for the Rising Stars especially after an unremarkable rookie season just seems odd.

Didn't make Rising stars? That sucks. Porter should have too. This years class has sucked. Both Sexton and Porter are better than most of those guys

It makes me wonder if every team got their assistants to put in their ballots for it. Its seems like certain teams got guys in more than others. The Hornets somehow getting 3 guys in doesn't make sense.

Beilein on Collins' decision making:

" We chart every one of those and he's got good decision, bad decision, neutral decision on it and he's
seeing it. He's got goals and he's got numbers to make sure he's got more good decisions than bad
decisions. We've been keeping it for about 3 weeks now and I don't know how much we've shared so far
because we don't want to get him too crazy about the analyitics but that is a stat. Are you making the right play?
He could probably have had eight assists today(Raptor game) with some of the sprays he had."

This is what I was talking about a few weeks back when I said there are far better ways to develop and teach players than benching them every time they make a mistake.
