Beilein on Collins' decision making:

" We chart every one of those and he's got good decision, bad decision, neutral decision on it and he's
seeing it. He's got goals and he's got numbers to make sure he's got more good decisions than bad
decisions. We've been keeping it for about 3 weeks now and I don't know how much we've shared so far
because we don't want to get him too crazy about the analyitics but that is a stat. Are you making the right play?
He could probably have had eight assists today(Raptor game) with some of the sprays he had."

This is exactly what I was hoping was happening in the background so it's great to see they're holding him accountable and more importantly he's being receptive which doesn't surprise me.

The USA vs World gimmick needs to go though. Take the best 20 guys and move on. Leaving Sexton off for 3 hornets on the US team is bad enough but guys shooting sub 40% like Okagie and Svi? Heck NAW is shooting 34.7% while playing less than 13 mpg. Sexton is not surprisingly a polarizing player but two years in a row? Meaningless game I know but having no Cavs players in this game is a little annoying.

We never heard anything like that Beilein comment from the prior coaching regime.

What a concept to actually have a method to teach the game to these kids.

Beilein is learning the NBA, but he has some chops of his own.

I do feel like he is putting the team in a better position to win lately. He can't make them not commit turnovers and dumb mistakes at the end of the game, but despite the recent losing, I think the team is playing together better.

I wonder how much getting on Rising Stars is about networking or secret lobbying. I didn't realize it was voted on by assistant coaches until I looked it up. Having teammates and coaches who can hit up other teams assistant coaches that they have relationships with to vote for a player could easily sway who gets on.

Colin getting snubbed is kind of pitiful. Cleveland, never gets any respect.

You Can Say That Again I go to other sites and their sportswriters or radio personalities build up their players here they just beat up on them

Since Sexton is an American he had to make the U.S. team which means he was going for one of 10 spots. He's not eligible for the World Team so he wasn't competing against Okogie, Svi, Alexander-Walker, etc.

There are five guards and five forwards on the U.S. team, so he was really competing for one of five guard spots against all the rookies and second year American guards. I can't argue with the selections of Graham, Morant, Nunn, and Young. I would have taken Collin over Herro, though, who's averaging 13.1 ppg on 41.3% from the field. But Herro plays for the Miami Heat, one of the top teams in the East. I think that makes a difference. Also, Sexton didn't start to play really well until recently. I think making only three 3-pointers in December hurt him, too.

The good news is he'll be even more motivated from here on out.

And,when they leave in free agency, fans get angry at them.

didnt deserve to make the game, doesnt play a lick of defense

There is nothing to be positive about, we are the worst team in the league and none of our young guys can play defense. The team has a rare combo of lacking effort, size and talent.
There are quite a few teams are far worse off than us

Shame his rookie year was a throwaway season getting coached by a bunch of dudes with both feet out the door, and how a lot of fans seemingly forget that.

It wasn't an entire loss - he used last season to make major strides with his shot. Says a lot for him - wasn't getting good coaching, so he did what he could do on his own.

You can't teach work ethic or desire. That's why trading him makes me nervous.

5 more days trade love and Thompson and any of the older players you have to start with players with no ties to the old way of doing thing.

Which adds more reason for me to like him. He improved while not getting coached. Talent and work ethic for him is clearly there, never been or will be a question. Question is how raw he is and can a coach tap into that.

But we have seen numerous times this season where he’s being properly coached finally, and he’s showing improvement both statistically and with the good ol’ fashioned eye test. He’s raw and clearly talented physically and scoring the ball. Now he’s being taught how to play the game. Excited to see what a full off season under Beilein and his staff results in, for him, Garland, and Porter Jr.
