If Sexton can really become a primary scoring option - something that looks likely sooner than later - this team will transform. Guys like Love and Drummond will suddenly have more offensive value, there will be less transition opportunities for our opponents, and Garland can really focus on developing on the bench.

In fact, if he just maintains his offense from last night on most nights, I think his advanced metrics will quickly show him as a positive player. Independent of improving stats on his end, teammates will improve, and this is enormous.

I’m just really looking forward to it. Should be a fun ride over the next few seasons, especially if KPJ continues to develop.

Cavaliers basketball has been exciting to watch lately. The passing, cutting, gritty defense. It was great to see Sexton having the ball at the end of the games to make the play. This experience will definitely help his confidence and the team as well for future games. These games are very important for long term and it is not about losing to get a draft pick. Very excited for Sexton and once KPJ is back too.

A lot of stats heads say the advanced stats show him as being by and far the worst defender on the team, and one of the worst in the league. It just doesn't seem to me when watching him. He seems engaged. What are some of the things he can improve upon, and is it likely?

If Sexton was on any other team the writers would be building him up do you ever look at our sportswriters they never build our players up unless it Labron or people connected to him they bad mouth Kyrie Dan Gilbert The Dolan's Labron left did not get anything for him Kyrie was big enough to tell Dan he would leave people bad mouth him .

I do not know if this the right place to ask but why do not more player wear knee padding or like Collin getting cuts on arm wear long sleeves you would think that the coaches or Doctors would step in since its about protecting the players.

I hate advance stats because it never take into account of things like a player missing making the wrong rotation,players not hitting their shots(so,the passer gets an assist) and etc.


For whatever reason,Porter decided to double team Siakim,even though Tristan had him. Porter left his man open which Love had to rotate to Porter's man,while Sexton was left alone with his man and Ibaka,who was Love's man.

I will guaranteed you that was a stat counted against Sexton since he was the one there.

All this advance stats is not neccessary at all.

He gets screened off very easily. He is 4 steps behind his man too often letting Love cover him, which is not good. I think it is his worst attribute. He helps often without committing, so he walks toward the post to double, but doesn't cover the pass and his man gets the ball and it's an open 3 a lot.

He gets lost off the ball because his eye is on the ball instead of his man. This happens to everyone in the NBA, but Collin more than average.

He can have individual on ball defense which is pretty good, and that makes me think he can be a much better defender. He improved from historically bad to bad this year. He has to keep watching tape and fight through screens better.

I love Sexton and he has been incredible. Powell also has been outstanding, especially as a two-way player. I really don’t think this is that outrageous. He’ll eventually win the award.

I don't think you need to assume a conspiracy. Players on winning teams are much more likely to be recognized and the Cavs lost both of Sexton's big games.

Yeah I envision his progression on defense is going to look much like his passing and court vision - watch a lot of film and talk a lot with an experienced vet who can guard, Delly basically.

So it needs time with the other priorities. I'm hopeful though too, he has the capabilities.
