For the majority of the season, I was on the "Garland is the future of our PG position" side of the "debate" (for lack of a better word) between he and Collin, because it seems like a given that they can't co-exist longterm.

With Collin seemingly "figuring it out" on the fly coinciding with the coaching change, I'm now at least hedging -- maybe completely flipped around. Until that turnaround, I saw his absolute ceiling as something like a Lou Williams 6th man (which isn't 'nothing'; LouWill is a beast).

In the last 30+ games of the season, Collin was putting up a pretty astonishing (for a 20yo sophomore) 23.6 points on 49/44/87 splits with 4 assists and 3 rebounds in about 35mpg. People may point to his advanced numbers and all of the analytics seems to hate Collin, but I am still of a mind that a guy who can do *that* with his raw numbers at such a young age ... the upside is more McCollum, Oladipo, Beal than a high-end 6th man.

More important than all of that, Collin was really starting to pace himself the right way, understand when to take over, and winning games for us (or being a primary facilitator to winning games) in the last month of the season. Do that for long enough (and he was showing no signs of slowing down), the analytics will eventually catch up to what you're doing.

As for his place in the lockerroom hierarchy, some guys lead vocally, others lead by example. If guys like Larry Nance Jr. can't see that a guy being fixated on becoming the best basketball player possible and not much else, it unfortunately tells me more about Larry than Collin.

Against all odds, this guy has a real chance to be special. I just hope his "figuring it out" wasn't negatively impacted by the interruption in the season.

I really love Sexton. I wish more kids learn from Sexton on how to improve your game and motivation to play better. His work ethic will make his ceiling even higher and thats what will stand out from the rest of the talented players.

I remember in his interview he was upset about not finding the open man and is looking at film to see what he could have done or what he can focus on being better. His time with Lindsay has been so phenomenal.

With the way his scoring has developed, I think it actually raises his ceiling as a passer. He can really use his scoring threat to lead his passing, meaning his passing game can be derived from his scoring rather than from his "vision". Steph Curry's vision is not that great. At Collin's age, he was finally averaging 5.6 assists in his junior year of college after getting 3 his first 2 years. What he learned to do was make the right decisions when to pass and when to shoot depending on the defense. I think the last 2 months of the season, we really saw Collin start to do this. He was passing out of the double, and was especially making the right read around the basket when he was contested.

If he continues with his ability to get to the cup, tighten his handle, and continues to work on his shot, all those passing opportunities will be there because of his scoring threat. It's a shame he didn't get the rest of the season to continue that growth. 2 really good games to watch are the 2 against Denver. In the first, Collin has a really good "Collin" game where he and Darius scored a lot, but completely separately. Collin looks almost like he is playing in a different game than everyone else. In the 2nd, he really plays a team game, and even though he goes off, it doesn't feel like he is taking shots from someone else, and his decionmaking looks miles better. He grew a lot this year. I just hope that continues.

That's why it's so disappointing to see fans and the media criticize him so much for every little thing. I'm not saying to kiss his ass but dayum,if he has a good game dont nitpick everything about his game...

Don't say,he should have done this and that after he had a good game, congratulate him and keep it moving.

Alot of players say they love the game of basketball but you can tell most of them are in it for the money. You can really tell Sexton loves the game of basketball and willing to let people help him grow as a player. Not,too many young guys have that mentality.

I certainly don't know, but this young man seems to thrive on adversity.
He never loses heart.
I wish that I had that kind of strength as a young man.

It's not just basketball. Kid worked his ass off in school also. 3.7 GPA in high school, and even though he was going to be one and done in college, he got a 4.0 there as well. Just a very goal-driven kid. He's in my top-5 favorite Cavs just because of that. In terms of hard work, he's like Delly.

It's pretty wild the hate he gets at large. He is essentially Carmelo to the Wade and Lebron of Young and Doncic. He came out in a really great class. He'd be pretty clearly the 3rd best player in Darius' draft as well, he would be 1st or second in this next draft most likely. He's a bonafide hit at averaging 20 at 20.

At this second he is on a star trajectory. That is just a fact. He was at great 6th man potential and then he blew past that the last 3 months of the season IMO. I watched his 40 point game against Boston last night and he was just a different player. Made great plays for his teammates and only scored 4 points the first quarter and 36 the rest of the way.

I'd rather not use the Melo answer. Let's go with the Bosh. Melo was a supremely skilled scorer that won a national championship, but never expanded his game. Already seen more growth from Sexton in a year and a half than Melo did his entire career.

Their games aren't much alike. Wasn't comparing their games. Honestly, I think Bosh is probably the better player, so that works for me.

Putting in the work to get a 4.0 knowing he only needed to get C's in the fall semester to be eligible and then he was done with college really impresses me. It's like he said, "If I have to go to class I'm gonna get A's."

Wow I was listening to the Duncan and Hollinger re-draft of 2018. They didn't even have Collin in the top 15. I get they are not up on his facilitating and defense, but man that seems really off. They had Bagley, Mikal Bridges, Wendell Carter, Bamba, and Donte Divincenzo higher. Devonte Graham at his advanced age is higher on their list, and Mitchell Robinson, which is fine, but going in the 2nd round means he was not in play whatsoever.

He's the 3rd leading scorer in a draft that produced 2 allstars in year 2 that are scoring almost 30 a game. Even if you were biased against him 20ppg at 20 seems like he should get you in the top 15. I get where they are coming form liking some guys game better, but there were so many guys that they were still thinking could maybe produce, when Collin has actually been producing.

IMO, the only guys that have a case ahead of him are Doncic, Trae, Ayton, Jackson, and Shai. Michael Porter Jr is fine to like a lot, but even Holinger said he is not likely to play a large number of games in his career.

I know other people don't value him like we do, but saying he shouldn't have been taken in the lottery seems way off. Like the odds of Mikal Bridges becoming a better player at this point are super low. Devonte Graham is blowing my mind. He is 24, 3 years older, worse in every way including efficiency while scoring 12.5 vs 18.5 per game. He's a better defender at 24 and gets 2 mores assists per game.

I know his advanced stats are bad but its hard not to see him in the top ten. In any case this seems like an outlier, most redrafts I have seen have him between 7th and 10th.
