He missed his first 4 threes and you thought maybe he would be rusty this game then he just knocked down shot after shot over absolutely everybody.. Kyrie, Durant, green etc
Yep I just rewatched and just in 5min double OT he drained 3s over 4/5 players on the floor. Kyrie (twice)/durant/green/harris

I would highly listen to Chris Fedor's podcast. He talks about Sexton game last night and the KPJ situation.

Really good podcast.

Remarkable writing here:
Ya know... it felt like a lot of high-brow diction masking a really low blow take: the Cavaliers are nobody’s in this league, a ‘cute’ team that are still worth watching even though they won’t amount to anything.

It’s amazing to me that on a night that Collin reestablished his ceiling in the league, the author of that article was quick to decide that our backcourt doesn’t have a high enough ceiling to be contenders.

Well written, but just more NBA elitism.

Standard article that gives a little credit, but won’t validate them until they earn.
it’s the first step- they’ve officially, through Sextons play, made some people turn their head and watch.
minus the LBJ years, we haven’t seen this since the 90s.

Kind of misleading to put Trae Young in a level above Collin's 2020-21 start. Granted, there is a long way to go, but why exactly is Trae Young being thrown into the same conversation as Luka?

I mean, sure... he is averaging 9 assists a game which seems damn good until you take a glance at his horrendous 4.1 turnovers per game (the absolute worst in the league).

Their splits are hilariously one-sided.

Collin Sexton - 27.0 points on 53.4% FG, 50.0% 3PT, 77.3% FT
Trae Young - 24.0 points on 39.0% FG, 29.5% 3PT, 86.2% FT

:chuckle:

Collin is a more lethal scorer than Trae Young right now and it isn't close.

Take Trae's dick out your mouth, Ringer. Small sample size, but Collin has been better by a fair margin.

Last night was awe-inspiring but the best sign of all for Collin is his effort defensively. He is getting a little tenacious out there. Not getting beaten off the dribble the way he once was, fighting through screens, getting his hands on the ball ... his transformation into a borderline All-Star has been extreme and only goes to highlight just the kind of gym rat he is.

Great signs all over this franchise right now. Really, really fun team.

The article isn't bad and some good points are addressed, but here again... how can an article seemingly focused on analytics (however simplistic) make a mistake like this:

The Cavs are second-to-last in scoring offense 14 games into the season because their three best offensive players (Sexton, Garland, Love) have barely played together. Love has only played 2 games, but take him out of the equation. Even when *just* Garland and Sexton play together (6 games), the Cavs are averaging 111.4 points per game which would put them around 13th in the league.

So yeah... when you have a tiny sample size and a lot of it is taken up with guys who weren't even on the roster to start the season, the numbers can get a little deceiving.

There is nothing unsustainable about where the Cavs currently rank in offense, except that it will almost certainly improve drastically as guys get healthy. JFC
Trae Young is off to a slow start and is struggling with his shot, but his 4.1 TO per game is not worst in the league.

James Harden 4.9
Luka Doncic 4.2
Zach Lavine, Devin Booker, Trae Young, Ben Simmons, Nikola Jokic all have 4.1

I totally agree with the concept of earning respect... and it’s a valid take 99% of the time... but after we have our biggest night of post-Lebron basketball he feels the need to toss out back handed compliments to any team that lacks superstars in the league? Couldn’t read the moment and pick his spot?

IDK - I guess I’m being over sensitive (a thin skinned Cleveland fan?? :chuckle:). Just felt like if there’s one night where you can pile on praise and move on, that was it.

Hate how casual the national coverage is lol. Happy for Sexton getting recognition but this was bad on Rachel and co.
It was disgusting, but that's corporate journalism, often factual but rarely truthful. She kept repeating that the Cavs had the worst offensive rating in the league, which is true, but didn't bother to mention that Damyean Dotson was the only guard they had for like a third of their games. The possibility that the performance by Sexton and the Cavs was legitimate instead of fluky would take away from whatever attention they want to bring to the Nets.

Yeah... Putting shade on Koby too after just fleecing the darling Nets. She was clearly reading a script though, which is probably even worse lol.

Whatever. By the end of this year we will be consistently good enough to change their tone. All of a sudden we'll be the new I told you so and look how smart of an announcer I am example.

ESPN is trash and has a major market bias because of their business model.

I believe our team is likely to overachieve in the regular season. We don’t have the superstar players or experience to go very far in the playoffs although we might do some damage. We clearly resemble the teams LeBron beat in the East playoffs like Atlanta more than a legit threat to come out of the East.

I rarely watch espn. Only for a game
Your probably right for our ceiling this year.
however we did add Allen and prince. Hopefully windler can stay healthy even though I doubts he gets a lot of mins. And then there is love
Be interesting to see this team at full strength Kinda amazed at the depth we have built

That was really interesting to watch...he actually hesitated on the first three point attempt, maybe even on the next one. Like, "Should I be the guy taking this shot? Should I defer to a vet?"

Then he flipped a switch and it was "I'm the shit, fuck your big 3, get buckets"
“I'm the shit, fuck your big 3, get buckets” should be the next release by one of the Cleveland t-shirt companies.
