I love Collins work ethic. I don't really know, but man I'd prefer he was working out with a bunch of guys playing ball instead of with a bunch of trainers. His game skills are great, his scoring skills are great. He needs reps with quality players in tem environments

He is wearing the same clothes in this video so I assume he played a couple games before or after that training.

Guys work on what they want to work on. I'm reminded of LBJ getting upset with Kyrie because his assist totals were garbage and Kyrie's response was to stay late after a game to work on his jumper.

The scoring and efficiency in the mins are believable. Assists not outside the realm of possibility either, tho I would expect fewer rebounds. The defense tho...that would be a huge leap. Collin never gets in passing lanes or rotates properly. Dont expect that to suddenly produce 50% more steals in less mins and cause his DRTG to drop 7 full points.

Committing himself on the defensive end is where his upside is. He can learn to pass off his own gravity, but he can't be on the floor when the game is on the line if he can't properly defend.

Glad I was wrong. Seems like he wasn't playing games because he is still recovering. Still, no brace on the leg now. He looks explosive. Hope this new attention to defense sticks.

Can he fight thru a screen?

His 1v1 D has always been solid. He did a good job vs harden and kyrie in 2021. Its the team D I worry about. He is always on rotations and is too short to really be a weak side threat. Could get in passing lanes more with his long arms but his awareness is bad

Yes, he needs to be stronger on these concepts. I don't think the physical limitations are really that bad. Yes guys can just rise up, but if he crowds them sufficiently, it won't be a problem. I think his biggest problem here is that for Sexton is to the ball as a cat is to a laser pointer. He can't keep his attention on his man when the ball is in his field of vision. He wants the ball that bad.

Nailed it right on the head.

i like sexton, but this is spot on. i saw time and time again sexton playing good man to man defense, only to get lost on a screen or when his man goes for a cut.

i don't believe his height is his limitation, his off ball defense is.

Could someone explain why Collin is worth $13 mil a year while Cavs might be willing to trade for Donovan Mitchell @ $28 mill a year and surrender some young talent and some picks?

I am in no way trying to underestimate Spida, but how does he fit in Cavs' current roster where Collin seems like a huge misfit to a lot of people?
