Mixed to poor reviews for the pre-season.

Hopefully he is knocking off the rust.

I would like to see him succeed and, at the very least, show some teams how overpaid dudes like Herro are.

I absolutely don't feel like Sexton becoming a great player in any way alters how the trade went.

The bottom line is that he was never going to fit in Cleveland once Garland took the next step.

I would love to see Sexton thrive in Utah.

If anything his struggles validate Koby's Donovan move..

I too hope Sexton success on the court.. Would be nice to see hard work paying off.. But DM is Sexton in his best life.. We simply shorted the risk..

Looking at Travers and Diop stash play, and considering finding Diakite, I can't see any certainty those draft pucks would produce better than we can get in round 2, or through gleague promotion.. From here on , new players are going to have to prove it to get signed..

I am pretty stoked we moved on from Nimbhard.. we have an open roster spot and a two way to collect guys who drop out of control, or we pick up in mid-season trades.

Huge Sexton fan. Knew it would take time for such a Severe meniscus tear.

I'm happy with the trade. I didn't want him traded for Cam reddish or some other nobody who did nothing.

As part of a star package down with that

Sexton looked good in his first regular season game with the Jazz. Played 21 minutes and scored 20 points with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. He got to close out the game and help to seal the win for them. He look just as fast as he was pre-injury.

My guess is they will bring him back to full minutes slowly which will also give them the minutes to help pump up Clarkson and Conley's value to trade them. I also think playing in a system like Utah's and with a PG like Conley will help him continue to develop.

That play where he literally hooved it before bull rushing Jokic to the hoop had me fucking dying laughing.
Jokic got so mad he knocked Sexton on his ass.

Glad that those fans got to see a great game from both him and Lauri in their debut against a good team.

Good to see Sexton playing pretty well, but... remember when I said he was a "placeholder star" for the Cavs? A guy whose job it is to entertain the fans on a bad team while they wait for the real stars to arrive?

Well, just look at him now. Literally the same type of role in the same type of situation. Not a coincidence.

There's zero chance Sexton will be resigned by the Jazz when things are finally looking up again.

So certain are you.

I actually think he gets traded before the end of his current contract. Based on what Ainge did in Boston with Tatum/Brown, I think there's a good chance they prioritize finding their young wings and then building around them. Sexton could wind up being a valuable piece in a larger trade for that player or for a premium pick.

I think Sexton will get traded to a team that needs his skill set in the next year or two. I think Utah will build him into what they think makes him the best commodity to trade. I do think he is kind of on the back burner in terms of their focus with who to trade. Getting rid of Conley and Clarkson are probably higher on their list of priorities.

I don't think it was a coincidence that Sexton closed the game last night. That something stats say he is good at but I'm not sure he is actually known to be a closer. If they can make that a known trait of his, it will help to build his trade value.

Danny Ainge would probably trade his own Mother in the right deal. Wouldn't be surprised if the entire Jazz team including Lauri and Sexton get dealt at some point in the next few years but agree they have other veteran players they will likely trade first. They both make about $17mil/season which is a sweet zone for tradeable contracts. Really happy to see our former guys playing well though. I believe Sexton's last regular season game was early November of last year.

The Lakers definitely have Sexton's name written on a list of targets. He'd actually fit in pretty well with them - like a poor man's Kyrie. But you don't have away an unprotected late 2020s lottery pick for Sexton and I don't know what else the Lakers have that the Jazz would want.

I like him better to play with Lebron than anyone else that has been mentioned. He's so fast Lebron can rebound and outlet the ball to him. I'd trade one of those picks for him before I did for Buddy Hield.

Definitely would trade any valuable assets for Sexton before Hield, without a doubt. I think the Lakers are going to wait for a "distressed asset" to become available and hope that they can make out like Philly did in the Harden trade.

I wonder, too, if the market will cool down a little bit and teams can get away with, for example, top 3 protecting or top 4 protecting etc. This whole unprotected or nothing view out of Utah (and elsewhere) is crazy.

I’m not sure the Lakers could get it done for Sexton if Westbrook is involved. The salary makes it a bit complicated.

If I were the Lakers I might consider something like Lauri, Conley, and NAW for Westbrook and a pick. NAW looks like the odd man out in Utah and the Jazz get out of the last year of Conley’s deal. Obviously Lauri is a great fit with AD in LeBron. They’d still have another move to make, but they’d actually have a couple pieces to play with to get something done.

I said I wouldn't watch any bad Utah basketball this season but they've been fantastic beating both Denver and Minnesota. There's no way they can sustain that level of play. Both Lauri and Sexton have been really good and are on bargain contracts. The Utah telecast interviewed Sexton's dad the other night and said Conley has been a godsend for Collin. He's learned more mentoring under Conley for a few weeks than he had during the entirely of his NBA career. I'm assuming Ainge eventually trades some of his vets but Sexton is currently Conley's backup.

Wouldn't be surprised if Ainge can get a big return for Sexton if he puts him on the block. Teams like Dallas and Lakers could definitely use him. Still think Koby missed on trading him a few years ago when he could've gotten a good return. It ultimately worked out using his FA salary as a trade ballast in the Mitchell deal so it is what it is.
