Sexton came out of left field, correct? Makes you wonder how much information floating around is complete BS. Only the handful of guys in that war room really know what’s up.
I’m gonna be equally obsessed next year, but there’s no way I will believe anything I read from insiders or journalists.

I didn't realize there were so many NBA scouts on this board. Avery Johnson who knows point guards thinks he's one of the best he's coached gives me a little more credence than some of the posters here.

PGs Avery Johnson has coached:

Devin Harris
Jason Terry
Deron Williams
Jordan Farmar
Sundiata Gaines

ok, in a couple of years Sexton could be better than some those guys it's true

Like I said in the draft thread there are going to be a whole lot of people changing their mind about Collin Sexton if he's on the squad come November...Cavs have been soft and lazy on Def far too long... This dude will push the pace and get in your face ...he isn't out there shaking hands and slapping asses with the other team...and he attacks the rim as well as anyone

No, he was expected.

I'll say this, his scouting report reminds me a lot of Victor Oladipo. He was also said to lack elite skills but was a scrappy worker with a never give up attitude.
Maybe, but he seems like a huge question mark at this point. If Gilbert's plan is to put together a team that convinced LeBron to stay this move just does not make any sense to me.

I pulled for us to draft 2 guys that went before #8 (Bamba, Carter) and 1 guy that fell way below than his projected number (Porter). How does one sell Sexton to a guy who didn't even look at his direction?

Well the report did come out that that MAV and Rich Paul both love Secton and he was their favorite player in the draft so I'm sure that may have come from LeBron as well... Now we all know how the Napier thing played out but I feel like this is a little bit different seeing how high the Cavs were picking

What are his PG skills like?
I don't see him as an elite scorer, more of a 3rd option down the track so his ability to run a team is more important, especially if Lebron is gone.

I played against his uncle when I was playing for the 97-98 Armco Heating & Cooling Hornets...

I remember his uncle Quay-Jean Sexton played for the Brookpark Armory Bullets that year and unfortunately got switched out on me a couple times during our 1st round series...

I paid for his retirement party after we swept them...

The kid might be a bust like the Alaskan Assassin, or he might be the next Mark Price. (Who still is my favorite Cav.) Point is: We don't know. Price was noted to be a slow white kid who "might" be a decent back up...….. We see how he turned out.

Player comparisons have been Bledsoe, Donovan Mitchell, and Westbrook ... Those were Jay Williams comparisons and he and Chauncey Billups both compared him to Bledsoe... He needs to improve his jump shot but he attacks the rim and is a high-energy athletic player that plays both ends of the floor and won't back down from anybody. His nickname is the young bull for the way he competes on the floor and his work his way from a relative unknown just a few years ago to one of the top players in high school and now a lottery pick

Who could they have picked at 8 that would have made any difference in Lebrons decision? Answer: Nobody.

Exactly. It’s the draft. He was projected a top ten pick. We got him at 8 And ???

Right. Seeing that MPJ fell to Denver makes me feel a lil better. I liked Sexton, but only if others were picked. With MPJ dropping even past the Bulls I figured that almost all the guys I would have been really hype over (Doncic, Bamba, Triple J, Carter) were gone. Young was also gone (thank the Matrix), so it came down to Bridges and Sexton. I still would have leaned Bridges but damn, Philly traded him.

Really hope LeBron stays, and so does Collin. Some of what I've seen troubles me, but that guy has a level of "FUCK YOU" that is sorely absent from this team. In these dark times, we need some buckets, and definitely some FUCK YOU. Outside of LeBron, there's a whole lot of NyQuil (fuck you, you know who you are) to be found in the current squad. No Delly. Tristan was drinking Old Green until the playoffs.

At this point, if the Cavs ain't getting Kemba or CJ back (or even Dame, LOL), keep him. See who'll bite on the contracts that'll be wiped in a couple of years.

ok, by his mid-20s Sexton could be better than a couple of those guys eventually it's true.

His game is actually close to Devin Harris coming out of Wisconsin. Quick guards that drive to the bucket draw fouls. Devin never reached his potebtial cause of the relentless play style. Hopefully Sextons body holds up better cause a young Devin was fun to watch but always nicked up.
