Just hope it is not shooting over brooms while screaming "Aye and 1!":chuckle:

Read multiple articlea that suggests his dad is very much involved in his training... Would be nice also to get professional help also, Cavs front office ahould assign a good player development guy with him because he is definitely going to train this summer but he needs a proper one, the last thing he need is a guy like that one with Fultz who made his shot much worse during the offseason
Agreed, with that said passing is one skill in NBA which I think your born with, and really can't improve much. Court Vision is something all the great always had. From Stockton,Bron, Magic, Kidd etc and by all accounts they always had "it" even in youth rec leagues/middle school.

The thing that is striking about Sexton is his desire to work hard in his effort to always get better. He just doesn't take anything for granted and doesn't seem to have much of a stubborn streak. I was at the draft last year and while all the other guys went out for a night on the town the night before the draft, Sexton went back to the gym at Columbia and worked. He developed a reputation there for his work ethic but also for listening to those who would criticize an element of his game - he take constructive criticism well and is willing to change his regime, efforts, etc if that will improve his game.

I've since heard that about him from NBA teams I work with, including people with the Cavs. He will choose areas of focus for his game and then just work relentlessly.

So if he has been challenged to improve on defense and improve in his ball distribution, I think he will talk to people and figure out how he can best improve - and then he will commit to that and work tirelessly on it.

I've been told his work ethic is at another level. He driven to be as good as he can and do whatever is needed to win.
That's good to know, from all accounts he has great work ethic and motor... So it's great if he is also receptive to coaching and willing to listen... That makes me wish more that the Cavs provide him the best player development coach to focus solely on him and training resources...

There should be little doubt that Sexton will bust his ass this offseason and come back a better player.
I’m just curious as to what his ceiling is?

I don't think you really know with a guy like Sexton until a few years pass.

Can the right coaching staff work with him an defense so he can become average or better than average? Sexton was 101ist (2nd to last) in defensive Real +/- this year at -4.61 (only Trae Young was worse). De'Aaron Fox was 0.49. Fox was near the bottom in his rookie year at -2.71. That's a big gain. Can Sexton make a similar or better leap? If he shows dramatic improvement in a single year, that raises the possible ceiling for him on defense.

Can he pull a Kyle Lowry over time? Lowry averaged 8.7 assists per game this year. He averaged 3.6 assists per game in his first full season. Granted, he played fewer minutes than Sexton. But after a few years, Lowry doubled his assists per game. Will Sexton show signs of growth here? April was a short month and he did have a 10 assist game, though even without the 10 assist game he averaged 3.5 per game in April. That was an improvement over his seasonal average. There's an upward trend. Can Sexton jump up to near 5 assists per game next season? Like on defense, this would raise his possible ceiling a bit.

There's also a question as to how much will Sexton continue to grow. He may add an extra inch or two.

If Sexton doesn't take a step back in any facet of his game next year while improving on weaker areas, it'll still be hard to peg his ceiling. I tend to believe he's not your Batman, but I think he has the potential to be a very good Robin.

If his defense improves, he still shoots around 40% from 3PT, scores 20PPG, and manages 5APG while limiting his turnovers - I'd say we could feel confident in saying we have a pretty good player on our hands.

Add in a genuine star from this draft and likely another top ten pick next year plus the 26 pick and any other picks attained via trading ending contracts - and having a hopeful outlook for the future is pretty fair.

Sky's the limit. The way he improved his 3 point shot out of freaking nowhere this year is proof that this kid will be special. He didn't even come in the league with that as a strength.

Agreed. He knows what he needs to work on. Put on some muscle to finish better. Work on his handle. Defensive drills and keep shooting threes. I have little doubt he will be in the gym today

He didn't improve his three point shot as much as he just started taking way more threes and maintaining that percentage.

I also think he expanded where was taking 3s too. If you look at his shot chart he has his spots all over the 3 point line except the right corner where he barely attempts any 3s. Early in the season he was only really comfortable taking 3s from one or two spots.

I think when it comes to spacing, I think it's just as important that a player can hit 3s from most of the arc as is their percentage and attempts.

Nance and Cedi are prime examples of guys that if you can force them off their spot or deny them their shot, you can basically take away their good 3 point shot. Cedi is willing to take 3 point shots from anywhere but he is only above average from the center to the left side. If you can get him out of that area, you can force him into a below average percentage in both corners and the right side.

Nance has a even smaller area that he is above average which is basically the top of the arc and just slightly left of the arc. It's basically the only place teams have to even worry about him taking a 3.

Looking at the rookie stats, he’s close to Daniel Gibson in a lot of ways, with slightly better passing.

Remember watching Collin in high school and found this.

Here is a clip where Collin played against RJ Barrett in high school. Imagine to have in same team.
Cannot wait till summer.

He was solely catch and shoot the first 3 months of the season. He added the pull up and step back 3. It is amazing.

A rich man’s Daniel Gibson.
