I'm surprised more Cavs fans aren't higher on Sexton. I hated the pick at the time (I watched Sexton play maybe his best game of the season in person for Alabama @ Arizona and still left unimpressed), but he has absolutely proved me wrong. He constantly plays hard––which for a small market team like the Cavs is the identity I think we need––has elite speed, is a walking bucket, has improved tremendously in his 1.25 years in the league, and has gone from looking like he will always be a minus defender to looking like he can be a real positive defender once he adds more strength.

Long term maybe his best role will be as a great 6th man. But I see no reason to make that determination now on this Cavs team devoid of talent. I definitely see a future where he's a long-term starting guard alongside hopefully an elite wing that can be "the guy." I think the identity he would provide to a starting lineup with more talent could be invaluable.

He gets fouled a lot. I know he gets blocked quite a bit as well, but he should honestly be getting more calls. You see the replay and often they get him on the arm. He is going to need to clean up his finishing a bit to get the benefit of the doubt.

One of my least favorite parts of the NBA is that the bigger your name is the more you get the call. Whether it is going to basket or as the shot blocker. Doesn't matter. Rep has more to do with it than what actually happens.

This is why I over rate Osman as much as I do,,,at least the guy can make an entry pass to the post from the wing and I've seen Osman make
entry passes to the post man from the top of the key as well which is way more difficult but he can do it...Sexton and Garland won't recognize mismatches and neither can make simple entry passes or just flat out refuse to do so. Its gotta be driving the bigs mad.

I really Think we should have Cedi at Sg and send Garland to the bench. It's already a lost year, we need Cedi to work on his ballhandling and playmaking. Windler will be our 3. Let Garland take his own time off the bench. He isn't strong enough to guard any starters anyway. Cedi would actually have an advantage at the 2.

Because hes really small and doesnt pass the ball so outside of like, Iverson, that means you head to the bench.

Him getting blocked at the rim over and over and over and over is becoming a very big problem.

It feels like he is regressing. I wonder if someone tried to tweak his 3 pt shot. He had so much confidence in it before and now he is barely taking them.

He is constantly driving to the rim now and isn't even using the other moves in the paint that he has picked up.

I'm slowly losing confidence in this staff. Larry Drew seem to have a better plan for developing Sexton and Cedi than what Beilein currently has for all the young guys.

I don't know which is uglier... Collin's game or his hair?

Has the speed, fire and work ethic... Just don't have the game and bbiq, atleast for now...

His game isn't balance right now. The vets last year especially Frye would get on Sexton to make sure he kept him game balance and was shooting enough 3s. He is driving way too much since he went into a slump from 3.

The reason I heard not to draft a pg was that it hurts the development of both guys because now they have to play different than they are suited to. That really has seemed to be the case so far.

A 2 guard front sounds good, but man guys are really athletics and like tonight yes Kemba is small, but everyone else is 6'7" at least. Collin was Guarding Hayward. I mean come on. That is tough. We have 3 of our 5 starters that are undersized. 4 if you count Garland. I am not sure anyone else is the league has it that bad.

That is Altmans fault, he seems to like stagnant dwarfs that cant pass

I don't think Garland is currently suited to be part of a 2 guard lineup. He just doesn't give the scoring punch and speed needed to make a team pay from the mismatch. I will also admit that Sexton needs to grow too to be part of a 2 guard lineup, he needs to work on his PG skills so he isn't just a pure attacking guard.

I think all we are learning right now is Garland/Sexton can't guard 6'7+ wings. Really it isn't a task they are ready for yet, they both need to get better at guarding guys their own size first.

Koby needs to make some moves and open up the minutes so Beilein is forced to match up better. Getting rid of Clarkson and pushing that Windler and KPJ need a certain amount of minutes might force Beilein to make the proper adjustments to the rotation.

I think we are at the point where Sexton and Garland need to separated for their development. Their shared backcourt doesn't need to be 100% dropped from the rotation but Beilein or someone on his staff needs to forward scout teams and plan to deploy Sexton/Garland together against the matchup that suits them best, which might be against 2nd units. I would drop Sexton and Garland playing together from 25+ down to 12-14 minutes a game.
