How good is this guy? Honest question, I don't particularly like any Cavs guys outside of Nance and Porter's potential. It's weird I always have a soft spot for Love but I feel he's already gone to a different team.

with Sexton
positives: works hard, quick, jumper puts stress on the defense
weakness: he seems to play small, he doesn't do anything other than score of note: not a great playmaker/assist guy, really bad defender

Seems like Lou Williams is a best case scenario for him (Lou was a good assist man if I recall though)

Given Sexton's rate of improvement, I think Lou Williams is closer to Sexton's floor than to his ceiling

He's still very young, and his body is still filling out. I think how he progresses defensively and as a passer is still unknown. I wouldn't bet against a guy with his combination of 1) insane work ethic, 2) intelligence (very good grades in HS/college), and 3) athleticism.

One strength of Sexton that sets him apart is his speed. He is truly one if the fastest players in the NBA and he never seems to get tired. It's something that isn't really utilized by the Cavs coaches so far. The times when he has been allowed to play big minutes with longer stretches, it's real noticable that defenses get tired trying to keep up with him. I believe he has proven to be a starter in this league but putting him into a Lou Williams type role would limit one of his greatest physical attributes.

It's amazing, how people continue to doubt Sexton when he's proven he'll get better which each season. Will,he ever be a superstar player probably not but he's good enough to go to multiple All-Stars.

People seem to forget that this will be the first time he'll have some stability at the coaching position.

Unless,he says fuck it and out right not wanting to improve, which I dont see,I think he'll be a better version of Westbrook....I think he's better than Lou Williams...imo

I would be very surprised if he's anything like Westbrook. Westbrook is both bigger and more athletic then Sexton and Westbrooks game is built around things like rebounding and assists which Sexton hasn't shown.

I guess I'm wary of smaller PG's in the modern NBA: just so hard to win nowadays as playoff teams just hunt these guys down to create mismatches. In the second half of the Lakers games the Lakers defense without AD decided to turn of the defense and he had a really tough time against the Lakers guards. Against the Heat he struggled with Butler as the Heat exploited that switch. The glass half full is those are the two FInals teams and the Lakers on defense and Butler are both very very good. The other angle though is against teams that play good defense and once they start scouting the Cavs, he's going to have a tougher time.

Dime is excited to announce a revamp of its storied Cover with a new initiative dubbed ‘MyCover.’ The MyCover launch allows players to take control of their Cover opportunity by being fully vested in the process itself, through ideation, design, and execution. Along with social initiatives and a true magazine cover story, MyCover honors Dime’s past while taking the experience into the future.

The inaugural MyCover athlete is Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton. Sexton is entering Year 3 after being drafted eighth overall to Cleveland in the 2018 NBA Draft. The spiritual leader of the Cavs, Sexton is learning under vets like Tristan Thompson, Larry Nance Jr., and Kevin Love as Cleveland seeks to further its rebuild after LeBron James left for Los Angeles. Sexton’s tireless work ethic and commitment to getting better is only rivaled by his love for his family, who has shaped him as a player and a human being.

For his Cover, Sexton made it clear he wanted his parents right there with him, shooting at a court near his family home in Georgia.

“It felt good to be able to have complete control on what I can include on the cover as well as inside the magazine,” Sexton told Dime. “I am always expressing how much I love my family and how important my family is to me. We came from humble beginnings, therefore we will not take any of this for granted. Family matters.”

Through interviews with those closest to him, and a collaborative experience with Sexton and his family, the Cover and its corresponding story took shape over these past few weeks while Sexton was still quarantining and doing individual workouts. He has since joined the Cavaliers in Cleveland for their camp, as the remaining eight teams left out of the bubble ramp up their offseason.

Through detail-oriented sessions, it was clear Sexton had a lot to show the world about who he is as a person — while still operating under a show, don’t tell mindset for himself as a player.

“The process went well,” Sexton says. “I am very fortunate that my family and I are able to share a glimpse about us with the world. It was also fun to hear things about me from my family that I didn’t even remember. It was very informal, relaxed, and stress-free.”

Originally, posted the article but went way over the character count.

The interview expands on the two articles.

It's shameful, how the veterans treated Sexton.

I will post part 2 Monday.

Sexton been doing alot of interviews since the team's season was over....

That guy from Dime, Martin Rickman, said Collin realized recently that just putting up stat won't do it. People have to learn who he is. He doesn't run his social media and he doesn't play video games, so he doesn't have any of that young famous person stuff going. I think he said it on the Chasedown podcast interview, but I heard him on Locked on Cavs too.

Maybe if Cleveland is going to get any respect, Collin is going to have to get some cool hobbies or something.

I think he should do the goosey 3 point symbol, but instead of the splayed feather 3, form it into a single horn for the "Bull's Eye". Trade mark taunt for him and saying "Bull's Eye" will show up up nice sorta reading Collin's lips on TV.

Problem is he has to win some games for that to work.

I heard that interview last week on Locked In with Martin Rickman. While,I understand what you're saying I think it's unfair to expect Sexton to do all that stuff. Especially, when it's known he's an introvert on the team. I'm an introvert myself and completely understand Sexton because most introverts keep a tight circle.

I don't think it's about winning because if it was Trae Young shouldn't even be talked about in the national media. He shoots the most inefficient threes, worst than Garland on defense and smaller than Sexton and Garland.

People talk about the Cavs being a shitty franchise, that franchise haven't been relevant since Dominique Wilkins. Even, then they couldn't win a chip at the time. Sure, they had good teams after Wilkins but let's be real have those teams ever been considered a top 3 teams in the East....Hell,they were in rebuilding mode one year before us and somehow Trae gets alot of love in the national media. To me,he's nothing more than a watered down Steph Curry, who takes horrendous threes.

I do agree Sexton needs to do more interviews,so basketball fans can get to know him but I do understand, why he hasn't done much in the past.

I do find it interesting watching Sexton's high school and college videos on YouTube;he used to trash talk alot to his opponent...There's one video where Sexton called Anfernee's son trash to Anfernee's face during a high school game....lol
