The trade's already in place. The problem is a certain team pulling the trigger. The Cavs are in a bind.
And which team would that be?
Please don't say Simmons... Sixers are holding out for Lillard or Beal types.

garland + okoro for cam johnson, or garland + 2023 pick.
Problem is CJ is too important for the Suns to do this unless CP3 got hurt imo
even then I doubt the Cavs see it as a reasonable value for Garland based on his potential.
I would say something around Garland the Houston 2nd next season ( 31-35) and Wade for Scottie Barnes from Toronto would be the best case scenario.
Cavs rolling out Rubio,Sexton,Windler,Markkanen,Mobley with Barnes,Okoro,Osman,Love and Allen off the bench is a playoff team that might win a series. Barnes eventually tales over at the pg spot and the Cavs have a massive line up.
But yeah Toronto probably demands an unprotected the way Garland has looked so far this season smh

Possibly an overlooked tweet from yesterday:

Monday is the deadline for an extension to be signed btw
Does this imply that they're still holding out for an acceptable trade offer for Sexton? Or is it more so holding out for a trade not necessarily involving Sexton but would still make it so that extending Sexton makes less sense (e.g. trading for a 2 or 3 with legit size, forcing us to break up SexLand)?

If they are unwilling to trade Garland and or Okoro then they are unwilling to trade Sexton as well.
The only reason you trade him is if someone goes over the top with the return equaling far more immediate help and future asset help for this org. I don't see anyone giving up those kind of assets for any player they will have to pay a lot to retain. They will just let him hit free agency and hope the market is low on him after the Cavs fuck up his season bringing him off the bench behind can't shoot Okoro and won't shoot Garland

Probably just keeping all their options open until the last minute.

I mean they are unlikely to get any player in return better than Sexton for Sexton in any trade before the season. They are probably not in the same room on his contract right now but have at least entered the same building.
I don't expect the hold up has anything to do with trades this close to the season.

Say what? If the Cavs trade Sexton my guess is it will be to the Knicks, possibly for this type of package:

to CLE: Quickley, Knox, & a 1st
to NYK: Sexton & Wade

Quickly is a little bigger and has a 6’10” wingspan, so I think he could play SG easier then Sexton. Knox is 22 & a former lottery pick in desperate need of a change of scenery.

I don't see it... I thought our insiders already said they aren't willing to trade him for parts/pieces.

If we do move on from Sexton, the centerpiece of the deal better not be under 6’6”

I don’t see the Knicks doing this. The 2 things they don’t need are another score first guard and another PF.

NYK are the source for all those weak ideas all summer that CLE was never going to agree to do anyway.
Cavs are not trading Collin for anything short of a future all star. Is that IQ Knox or some mid 1st? I don't think so.
