Corey Coleman

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I like this pick for you guys...

Coleman was personally my favorite WR in the draft, but I never really talked about him cause I thought he was too similar to Diggs so I figured there was no chance he would be drafted by my team...

I know people are talking about Antonio Brown, and Steve Smith, and maybe some OBJ comparisons...but he is incredibly similar to Percy Harvin when he was drafted, IMO...same kind of +s and -s.

Right off the bat, top 10 athletic trait player in the draft, just like Percy...but like Harvin coming out of Florida, he got knocked for his lack of an elaborate route tree coming out of college. I think Coleman at this point is the better WR, but Percy was the better athlete with a better NFL body.

They have the same kind of mindset too...both guys want to kill you on a football field, which I love...pretty sure Briles is quoted as saying Coleman would "rip your heart out and watch it stop beating"...those guys are typically tough as hell and play with a different swagger than most guys (intangiblezzz!!, right b00bie)...I just hope for your guys sake he isn't an egotistical asshole like Percy was...

And @Randolphkeys funny how we are talking about turning Duke Johnson into a Percy Harvin type player, then you guys go and draft someone I think is similar, but a little more refined as a legit WR.

Early 2016 Browns WR Corey Coleman projection: 75 receptions, 992 yards, 4 TD (Fringe WR3)

So basically we drafted Travis Benjamin's production from last year.

The guy is insanely explosive, no doubt about it. And we finally have a coaching staff that I trust to manufacture ways to get the ball in his hand. What shocks me most about this is that Hue kept saying how we needed more size at WR, and I just never thought he'd be the guy given that. I don't think anyone even linked us to him?

Yep, going into this draft I thought the Browns already had this slot filled. Hue has a vision and I look forward to seeing the vision play out... but you nailed why I didn't see Coleman as the 1st round pick for the Browns. In Hue I trust though.

Looking back at it, the big receiver comment was obviously a smokescreen like Hue's big hands for a qb comment at the combine. It worked too, no one thought we loved Coleman given those comments.

Didn't know he was a Jordan Brand athlete.

Folks up in Jordan brand have an eye for talent when it comes to representing their brand, this all indicates that Jordan Brand much alike Browns - seen something in Coleman that separated him from Treadwell and Doctson.

Go back about 7 weeks into Coleman's IG photos and you'll see him hanging with Joe Haden; another Jordan Brand athlete.

Things look up and up so far..

Coleman can play outside, IMO. He can jump with the best of them, and competes for the ball on contested catches.

He needs to learn a real route tree. Baylor has a barely above high school playbook. His athletic ability could turn him into a real star if he works hard.

I know a lot of people are concerned about him being able to play outside the numbers, but I think he can...lot of similar guys have been knocked for having "slot receiver size" and have gone on to become very good outside WRs...its probably annoying that I keep bringing up the Vikings, but the same ?s (on top of injury stuff) were there around Stefon Diggs last year as well...and then I saw him do this to Aqib Talib in his first start:

And he wasn't exactly noted for his route running coming out either...

Athleticism plays in the NFL...athleticism with a will to be a great player? Well, now you got something...think its there with Coleman too...

Stephon Diggs was a 5th round draft pick... if Browns fans need a moment to process this 1st round pick, I think there are good reasons. But, the Browns clearly value the 2nd and 3rd rounds very heavily in the draft process, and I've been beating that drum for a long time. I love the added 2nd day picks in the next two years. That's the real win here.

Travis who? Man finally a play maker as he needs to learn how to run routes but you can not teach his speed and motor. If he like he says wants to the best at everything and learns the NFL and route running we may have drafted a star. He also fits with Griffin so well. Basically if he can learn he will a huge step forward.

I'm not trying to compare Coleman to Diggs man...just saying similar questions were there, on both the ability to play outside and the ability to run an NFL route tree...I don't doubt that Coleman will get coached up very well and shocks you with some of the routes he will be able to run from the outside. Seen enough of that before with "smaller" WRs.

Man, watching him against WVU. No lube 'em. Holy hell, he can smoke guys who try to jam him.

His tone is right on point. He seems to have that killler attitude and does not sound or look like a moron. I never felt this good by a Browns pick since Thomas. He Is in a perfect spot with Jackson and a blood thirsty Griffin... I am almost excited about the season already.
