Crypto-Currencies and Bitcoin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The economy is slowing.

My buddy is a manager with Robert Half, and he is able to work with other placement agencies in Silicon Valley, as well as RH groups across the country, and he is seeing that hiring is going way down and their industry analysts believe a wave of contraction is coming soon.

So, take it as you will.
It will take off again when the terrifs are lifted before the election. But that's probably for a politics thread

tariffs aren't the only bad sign...

Putting aside recession predictions: why are we viewing crypto as a safe haven asset class?

during the equity turbulence of 4Q18 BTC got fucking pummeled, shedding nearly half its value

when markets go to shit, correlations quickly go to 1. The idea that one of the most volatile asset classes out there is going to act as a hedge against equities ... I’m skeptical.

Global Economic collapse. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. Just seen as an alternative to regular currency. I like the idea that all money isn't based on feelings. It all is. Only because we agree the money is worth something it is.

I mean maybe I missed it but I don't think anyone that doesn't have money burning a hole in their pocket should view it that way.

This is short term investment that offers a chance to lose a massive amount of money, or make a ton on money. It's like picking a boom bust prospect with the number one pick in the draft

Im really disappointed in the latest bump. I wanted more BTC at the lower levels 6-7k.
I have 4.5 BTC and 100 ETH. Im going to scale in another 10 BTC.

@David. Monero is untraceable. You could buy BTC exchange it for XRM then back to BTC to cover tracks.

For those of you that invested in digital currency which of them do you recommend looking at?

One of my wife's co-workers has basically gotten rich off of a couple of them and this constantly pushing co-workers to buy, but I'm looking to pick up other opinions

Alt-coins don't have as much of a foothold in the marketplace, so knowing their fundamentals is important.
I personally like Cardano. Its also currently 25x down from all time highs whereas BTC is only 2x down.

I trade xrp a lot. It has been good to me so far.

I’m surprised anyone really believes the US economy can crash...

Fortunately enough we will be held up by our massive play in tech and our major corporations which back our dollar enough. Recession maybe, but for sure will not be a collapse.

that’s just a doomsdayer mentality and doesn’t hold much bearing imo.

Given how intertwined we are in the global economy it feels like a global version of “too big to fail” that some of our banks enjoyed during our last recession

Its hard to even picture what it would mean to the world for the US economy to collapse. As it is today I don’t know if financial markets could even survive that. And at that point as a US citizen you’d have much bigger problems that any currency you’re holding ain’t gonna solve

7 of the top 10 largest companies by market value are US companies.

it’s asinine to think our economy will completely crash. I’ve heard too much talk about it happening, but the reality is if the US goes the world goes with it to your point.

Pretty much everything would fall apart.

You don’t have to believe it’ll crash to believe in BTC.

Can’t chase it here. Wow what a move.

Here’s to you keyboard warriors who don’t own any crypto. In the time you spent defending your opinion, you could have made more than an entire year in stocks, or 3 years, whatever.

Don’t understand why you’re getting so defensive of it

It’s not for everyone. All I said was I don’t understand how it’s a safe haven. I understand that isn’t how you’re viewing it. I’m just giving my opinion because I find it interesting to discuss. I just started trading options which has been a hoot and a half in itself

Money is being made tonight. It started pumping as soon as I posted.
