Crypto-Currencies and Bitcoin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My main concern is the continued viability. Chips still can't be manufactured fast enough, supply chains are crumbling. It's just accelerating our climate issues. Just feels like we're fast approaching a nasty global reset of economies. So I'll just keep prepping and buying bullets.
If that’s the case I’m fucked either way as 90% of my allocation is stocks which won’t fair any better in that scenario. I do apologize for getting shitty with you. I just have people calling me a moran all the time. For better or worse I promise you I’ve spent hundreds of hours researching the space and never overextend myself.

I don't think anyone that does their research and gets involved is an idiot. I think the idiots are the bros that try to advocate every person to jump in headfirst.

And yes, Im still salty on losing about 20k worth of BTC in 2012-13. Wouldn't you be? Lol

Again that’s the problem with crypto and NFT space. People do minimal research, have an extremely strong opinion on it, and then assume that anyone in it is either a money launderer or someone who is financially brain dead and being taken to the cleaners by money launderers and then proceed to just talk down to them

and then when those same people are hostile back after basically being told they have single digit brain cells it’s the pikachu shocked gif.
It is much easier to bash versus take the time to research and learn. The current crypto market is at an all time high, and as block chain technology continues to develop it will over time continue to grow even though thier will be steady corrections along the way . But you are spot on, when every project or coin is called a fraud by several posters without any research or extended knowledge about the market and current projects and technology advancements there is no point in continuing the conversation.

Couple of thoughts:

- some major banks are opening or have opened the option to trade crypto.

- some major corporations have adopted and implemented blockchain technology.

- I know this comment sounds like the “friend of a friend of a friend who knows someone!” — I work for a large national bank and a couple of close colleagues/friends in Wealth Management are very into crypto/ETH. For me, these are some of the most intelligent people i know [personally] and very much trust their advice on my 401(k) allocation and various other securities investments.

- Not trying to sell anyone, but i have definitely entered into this space. Is it speculation — yes. Will i allocate my entire portfolio to it — no. But i do believe if you take the time to really understand it — there can be some meaningful gains made for your future.

I think ETH is going to become the dominate crypto sooner rather than later. Im not sure its value will take over bitcoin but i think its popularity will.

I agree.

Some posters have commented on the “selling” or “obsession” with crypto and i get it. My friend has essentially been a life/work mentor and has been really intense with it. But, he is smart and has already moved his retirement up by several years. So, i cannot criticize him, because he does dedicate a lot of time educating himself on the pros/cons and developes a strong strategy within his overall risk apletite.

Needs to speed up transactions and drastically cut the fees. I've pur hated NFTs where the fee was double the NFT bc the network was so busy.

Can anyone point me in the direction of good reading material to start researching this stuff? I went into TopShots blind and that didn’t work out. Never again.

i think ive told the story here already, but my wife had a coworker who literally was just buying up ETH as much as he could afford for a couple of yaers. He bought into it hook, line, and sinker and he tried to sell it to every person he knew. This was when it was at 100. To him it just made too much sense. At first I view him as a snake oil sales man, but the more i researched the more I came around to it.

Then over the course of 12-18 months it went from 100 to 4000. Dude at 29-30 is probably worth 15 million right now. Why wife bought just enough to stake (though she never has). At this point she is just going to hold onto it to see what happens. Its more complicated than something like a bitcoin but thats because it has a lot more versatility.

I agree. What I like about ETH is it's not tied to any individual coin.

I think there's a very real possibility that whatever coin(s) end up making it in the end (and BTC might not be one of them) all/mostly use Ethereum.

The worst I have seen was 2 ether in transaction costs for a 0.07 mint. Someone spent 20 ether to mint 10 lol

ETH 2.0 definitely is needed

Check out this guy for NFTs. He also has a Twitter page where he puts out good info.

That's insane. I've had a few case where it's 1 eth to mint & 1 eth in gas.

I've been in & out of crypto for 6 or so years. Like all in where it's the only content I consume & then all out like I have no idea what's going on in the space. I've been hearing about Eth 2.0 literally everytime I get back in. I won't pay any attention to it until it's out.

kind of getting to that same point too. Hopefully with some actual competition that isn’t just a token living on the ETH blockchain it becomes more urgent.

I don’t understand the underpinnings and intricacies of what makes them different, but what I do know is that when I transact with Solana the max fee I’ve ever paid was like 7 cents. For more mainstream adoption you can’t have gas costing 50-100 USD in normal times and long periods of time where unless you’re willing to pony up 300+ bucks you aren’t transacting for some hours
